Under normal circumstances, when an order is placed for a product, it is the supplier who keeps the customer updated in respect of the status / progress. In this case it was the other way round. This usually happens when one has to deal with gurus such as this one.

I placed an order, ref. CM2210142563, with gadgetsguru for a Sandisk Cruzer Blade 16Gb Pen Drive(Delivered price Rs 300 less than that sold in shops) and made the payment.
The guru acknowledged the order

I sent an email to guru enquiring about the status of delivery.
Guru replied back saying the item was ready(5 days after the order! If I hadn't sent the email, it would not have been ready, it seems) and would be dispatched the same evening, with the Aramex tracking details to follow the next day.

Doesn't this imply that even nine days after placing the order, the item was not available for despatch?
I don't think they will make a refund, going by their gross indifference.
It might not appear to be a big deal losing Rs 411 and nine days, but should we tolerate such a callous attitude and unprofessional approach?
10 Nov 2014 - The finale
If you wish to handle frauds the way they are meant to be handled, you will have to take your cue from my dear friend. He called up the guru posing as my lawyer and spoke to the lady in customer service. Since he put the phone in speaker mode, I could hear each and every word that the lady said. She made a couple of ridiculous excuses: One, her office was closed for five days on account of Diwali. Five days? In Mumbai?
Two, Aramex refused to deliver to my place as there were restrictions and hence they asked her to cancel the order. Really funny - one month ago I had a package delivered to me by Aramex!
Have you heard of anything so dumb and unconvincing? Anyway, my dear friend told her that instead of maintainng silence, she should have kept me posted of these hurdles. He said he was filing a case the next morning which he did not want to, as the amount not refunded was too less. So if the lady co-operated by making the refund immediately, the chapter would be closed the same day.
That worked. Soon after, the intimation of refund reflected in my account!
It might not seem fair to judge a supplier by just one order that went wrong. However the bundle of lies thrown in by the guru and the foolish desperation exhibited to cover it up are reason enough to write them off for good.
