The last few days we have witnessed heated debated between the use of two technologies - Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)-based 'limited mobility' phones and GSM (Global System for Mobile) on mobile phones. Let us see which is better.
One of the limitations of a WLL (limited mobility) phone is that the user cannot go beyond a short distance charging area (SDCA) - which is roughly a radius of 25 km. GSM cell phones gives you unlimited mobility.
So If you are a 'mobile person' CDMA phones will not be of any great help. Though companies like Reliance are offering multiple subscription that will help you to receive calls to your phone in a different city. But that too only after you have reached your destination and not during transit. Another drawback is CDMA phones are costly and you cannot switch operators of your choice. For example if you take Reliance phone you are locked on to that for three years where as you can change your GSM cell phones and operators according to your whims and fancies. So if you are someone who doesn't travel much, is SMS crazy, don't mind missing calls in transit while travelling, and are looking for an alternative to fixed-line phones, and do not mind getting locked to an operator for three years, the WLL or CDMA technology phone is best.
