GKNM hospital and Dr. Banumathy. Review on G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital - Coimbatore

I would like to share my views on G. Kuppusamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, Avinashi road, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and Dr. Banumathy and the service provided there. I delivered my baby girl at this hospital.

Advantages:

1. Located in the heart of the city

   
   




2. Infrastructure is very good.

   
   




3. Very clean and hygenic.

   
   




4. Highly experienced doctors .

   
   




5. The staff are very well-trained and highly cordial.

   
   




6. The hospital serves food to patients.

   
   




7. The food provided by the hospital is good. They have a nutritionist and dietician who frequently checks with the patient on the quality and quantity of food.

   
   




8. The room was very comfortable.

   
   




9. Canteen is good.

   
   




10. They have a PR officer who takes feedback.

    
    

Disadvantages:

1. The doctor fees is charged according to the room rent - spells EXPLOITATION!

   
   




2. If the hospital staff could teach new mothers how to handle babies, it would have been great. I guess they assume the attenders to teach patients. The staff should teach new mothers how to carry the child, how to feed etc. When I requested the nurses to let me watch how they give a bath to the baby, they said "that is not allowed". But I did notice that the nurse had put the baby next to the wash basin. So I dont even want to imagine how the baby was given a bath. I heard Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital(KMCH), Coimbatore is excellent in this regard from a friend who had her delivery  there the previous month.

   
   




3. The hospital has the worst billing process.

   
   




4. The staff at the medical shop are rude and slow. Service is pathetic.

   
   




5. The nurses monitoring is good but needs to be regulated.

   
   




6. No separate radiologist in the gynaecology section to analyze scans?

   
   

About Dr. M. Banumathy, Gynaecologist, GKNM Hospital, Coimbatore.

Dr. Banumathy was recommended to me by one of her fellow doctors working at the same hospital. Dr. Banumathy is one of the best doctors I have ever met. I have been seeing her since pre-delivery for regular checkups. At the hospital, on outpatient days(Mondays and thursdays), there were about 40 patients at the time I was there for a checkup. I saw her attend to patients quickly and patiently. She answers to every question patients ask and treats every patient with the same regard.

I have met her at her clinic too several times, pre- and post-delivery. Even at her clinic, she treats every person with care and patience. There is one point I noticed about her specifically, that if she is going to be late even by 15 minutes to the clinic, she calls up her staff and informs them, who inturn inform the people waiting about the doctors arrival. We dont have to suffer waiting endlessly. Atleast people are able to go for a quick snack or phone calls, in that time. No matter how many patients arrive, she is quick to see them which is good.

I would recommend GKNM hospital and Dr. Banumathy at Coimbatore, and Gunasheela hospital at Bangalore for gynaecological issues.
