Staff attitude: The statement about patients' rights in GKNM’s reception says the first right of a patient is to be treated with respect, which is not the case at all. The attitude of staff was pretty bad and especially worse in C(in-patients) block and pharmacy. They act as if they didn't hear you when you try to ask them something and wasn't even willing to tell their name when asked for it.
Even when we had a doctor’s prescription for my mother’s heart tablet, the pharmacist just glanced at the letterhead and said it is not available. Even the nurse in the ward was surprised to hear that tablet is not available there. And the lady at the pharmacy was quite rude when we went to return to the unused medicines.
Patient care: A lady opposite to my mother’s bed has just returned to room after angioplasty and was bleeding. When her daughter informed the nurse in the ward, she just said ok and went away. Then we went to see if we could see the doctor and were told you can’t come here and ask for doctor, inform in ward. Again in the ward, no one seem to care about the bleeding patient. Again there are many other issues and patients with diet restrictions, diabetes were not considered but the above incident ought to give an overview.
We were given irresponsible answers on doctor's availability, where to collect the report and had to roam to different labs which is so exhausting. After all that they said to collect the discharge summary the day after as it wasn’t ready. When we went by 6pm the day after, we were told we should come before 5 o clock to collect it. They should’ve told the timeline to avoid inconvenience to patients.
