What makes a sandwich ?

Two slices of delish fresh bread (any kind, dammit!) and a little something in between.

And what makes that sandwich so irresistible ?

Is it the fact that it requires no prior preparation ?

Is it that it’s ready by the times you can say two slices of tomato and a crunchy cucumber about ten times ?

Is it that it’s always a favorite? (I’ve never really met anyone who hated a sandwich)

Is it that it can be wrapped up and wolfed down in five hungry bites?

Is it the freshness of the alluring white bread that makes me sing paens in its praise?

Is it the fact that u don’t even have to heat it up ? It’s so just ready-to-go ?

Is it the fact that it’s as light on the calories as it is on the palate ?

OR

It’s that intangible something in between that adds a whiff of mystery?

So then we come to the heart of the matter – or, no…sandwich.

The heart of the sandwich is like Hema Malini.

Coquettish vixen (salami chillies) or staid and stable (fresh green sprouts) – but ever alluring. Dress her in a ball gown or make it a simple white saree. Grill it or toast it, bake it or roast it, it’s simply outstanding. Garnish it with kababs, lots of cheese and masala and make it into a commercial hit like Amar, Akbar, Anthony or stuff it with wholesome baked mushrooms like “A chadar maili is” , the heart of the sandwich remains the eternal dream girl.

Not when it grows old though.

Just an afterthought.

It must be apparent by now what a sandwich-lover I am.

I was completely bowled over, therefore, to find a low calorie ready-made product that that can replace butter, cream, cheese – and other horrors that plague the health-conscious. Not only that, it tastes much better than the other low calorie alternatives of this kind in the market.

Yuck – malai chaska!

Chuck that mayonnaise jar !

Throw away the margarita – that poor excuse for golden butter!

Go for the Fun Foods sandwich spread.

Sandwich spread from Fun foods limited comes in a light transparent bottle that lets you have a look at its creamy texture. Just a whiff of it into a sandwich or burger and you’re ready with an exotic dish that promises to tickle your taste buds. It goes well with most stuffings without jarring with any of the tastes.

It is available in an eggless avtar, as well, for the vegans.

To end, a quote –

My favorite sandwich is peanut butter, baloney, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and mayonnaise on toasted bread with catsup on the side.

Hubert H. Humphrey (former Senator from Minnesota)
