John Phillip Stamos was born on 19th August, 1963in Cypress, California. His parents are Bill and Loretta. His original name was ?Stamopoulos, but his grandparents changed it to ?Stamos? when they moved to America years ago. John always wanted to be an actor since he was young. His professional debut didn?t come until he was 18. He landed the role of Blackie Parrish on the ABC soap,? General Hospital?. This was intended to be a five-day part, but John?s response was amazing & Blackie was made a regular character. 2 years later, John left ?GH? for prime time.
His first series ?Dreams? which ran for only 6 episodes in 1984 showed more of John?s other love, music. He worked Gino Manelli, construction worker by day, rock singer by night. Though the show wasn?t a success, it released a sound track album in which John sang. In 1986, John got another shot at primetime series, in ?You Again?? with Jack Klugman, who became John?s mentor. It was a father & son living together for the first time in 7 years. The show was funny but it too was cancelled, after one season on NBC.
Then in 1987, John finally found a hit in primetime, on ABC?s ?Full House? in which he played Jesse Katsopolis and this became his best-known role. ?FH? was a huge hit for ABC but all good things must come to an end & ?FH? closed its doors on May 23, 1985 after 8 years and 192 episodes. John himself is proud of his Greek origin. He even forced the writers of Full House to change Jesse?s last name to Katsopolis (and not Cochran) so everyone could know about him being Greek. This happened mysteriously, the first episode of the 2nd season.
John is an extremely talented actor.. He played in different TV-series, but his all time hit still is Full House? He?s also an accomplished singer-songwriter? All the music he did on FH was real? The single Forever never got into stores (just a promo), but it did get out on the Beach Boy?s CD ?Summer in Paradise?? It?s the only CD on which you can enjoy John?s singing. John was and still is a member of the beach boys, which explains why Mike Love guest-starred a couple of times? John also was the drummer on the 1999 Beach Boys Australian tour. John is about 6?tall and has hazel eyes.. People Magazine voted him one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world in 1990. His two younger sisters Janeen and Alaina are schoolteachers.
John won 2 Soap Opera Digest Awards for the role of Blackie Parrish on General Hospital and a Daytime Emmy Nomination. John?s numerous acting credits include appearances on Friends, Tracey Takes On, The Larry Sanders show, Hanging With Mr. Cooper and Step by Step. This versatile talent also has produced programs for television including Martin and Lewis, Virgin Chronicies, Thieves and The Beach Boys: An American Family. John is married to model/ actress Rebecca Romijin on 19th September 1998.
In 1995 he made his Broadway debut replacing Matthew Broderick in How to succeed in Business Without Really Trying. In the summer of 2002, Stamos hit Broadway again, playing the emcee in the Roundabout Theatre Company?s smash revival of the musical Cabaret alongside Molly Ringwald. He strode the boards once more in October of 2003, when he replaced Antonio Banderas in the role of Guido Contini in the Roundabout Theatre Company?s revival production of the musical Nine.
