I like to believe that Neale Donald Walsch had a real conversation with God. Conversations with God had appealed spiritually and religiously. He tries to change our conventional idea about God and what we believe are God?s ways. Through Friendship with God, Neale makes God more approachable rather than the ?larger than life? infinite punishing power that we think God is.

The basic message of the book is the concept that we are co-creators with God, whether we realize the fact consciously or not. If only we can control our thoughts, develop our thinking in a way that we can master it, we can be friends with God. Neale dismisses the idea of fear and that of sin.
