Getafreelacer is now freelancer. Review on Freelancer

I started working on this site when it was getafreelancer.com. We called it GAF in short. It was a fresh, new site then and lots of freelancers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and eastern European countries used to work on it.

Gradually, the site has become very popular and site ownership has also changed after couple of years. The name also changed from getafreelancer to freelancer.

I personally worked in hundreds of projects from this site via bidding pattern. I can remember the well written review by the clients after successful  completion of a project and they were so much valuable to the freelancers! It felt like a dream when I won a project first on Getafreelancer and the client was from USA. I really worked my level best to complete the project with stipulated time frame  and completed the project successfully.The client was very happy and wrote an excellent review for me.Most of the clients, I work with  were co operative and I shared a long time relation with some of them. They started giving project on the basis of mutual trust and verbal assurance.

Now, things have changed. Yes, the site has also changed in terms of looks and design. Number of freelancers have increased by leaps and bounds. There are so many fake bids. Client are also eager to get work at the rate of peanuts, no one is bothering about work quality. Some dishonest freelancers also made the reputation very bad mainly for Indian freelancers. Now, the whole marketplace seems to me a like a  "bargain deal" shop and most of the clients hardly show any respect to the worker and want their projects to be completed at almost free rate.

I am not saying, no project is now being done on Freelancer, but the environment has totally changed to the negative direction. You can see lots of incomplete project on the site.So, to me this site has lost its potential. Once a regular worker on it from 2004 to 2008, myself no longer bid on this site.

Even I do not get good worker when I post any project for me or for my clients on freelancer. I get lots of pre- formatted bids too. So, I have lost interest in the site.

Hence, I am not recommending it.
