My article, rather than being a review, has been written with an aim to help engineering aspirants decide if Fr. CRIT (Fr. Agnels, Vashi) is a right choice for them.Being a student of the Elec. & Telecom engg. dept., my observations focus mainly on that branch.
The Basic outlook of the faculty at Agnels(or Mumbai Univ. too for that matter) is to churn out'average' engg. graduates. According to them:'Getting "Placed" in a company is the highest achievement an engg. grad can have'. So all those freshers, who enter CRIT with a dream to do something innovative/ to learn their subject with a practical point of view rather than just end up in a typical job at an IT company, will have to find their own way, beacuse in the four years, the college does its level best to empty you of all your creativity and ideas.
The EXTC head of Dept., Prof. KTV Reddy looks like a man with good intentions, but maybe he doesnt have a team which shares his enthusiasm in improving this place. Or maybe the H.O.D. is not a man with good intentions after all. I really dont know the right answer.
As you might have already heard, Agnels throws a lot of crap at you with its emphasis on so called discipline( no I am not talking about morming assembly or prelims, these are good ideas actually). One argument to justify this is that after four years at Agnels you can easily adjust to any similar environment in professional world. But after hearing this argument, I ask myself, "Is life really about adjusting to all the crap this world throws at you?".
I really dont know the right answer.
Having said this, Agnel is really one of the Best engg. colleges in Mumbai University, simply because the rest are worse. So If you do take admission into this college( like I did 3 yrs ago), my advice to you is: believe in yourself no matter what; Dont judge yourself by your termwork grades( whether bad or good); learn the art of ass-kissing( I havent been able to even after 3 yrs). So the big question remains- Is Fr. CRIT the right choice?. I really dont know the right answer.
