Story:

I am a Frederick Forsyth Fan and The Fourth Protocol is the eighth forsyth novel that I have read. I should tell you that The day of the Jackal, The Devil's Alternative, The Fist of God, The Negotiator are his best work. So if The Fourth Protocol has to be in that category, it has to be really good. Other Forsyth books I have read are The Dogs of war, The odessa file, The Icon. And one more thing I want to tell you all is that A Movie was made with the same name. Pierce Brosnan and Michael Kane are the lead actors. Consequently, I was just compelled to read The Fourth Protocol.

The Fourth Protocol is an extremely engaging, well crafted and meticulously researched cold war thriller that does not disappoint. It ranks right up there among the genre's finest. To reveal the plot would be injustice to the would be readers of this book. But I would say this much that the Russians are planning to bring down the current british government and install their own covert government (the opposition, labour). In order to do this they need to sway the majority of the british vote to labour. And then comes the plan Aurora. This is the plan that disrupts the Fourth Protocol.

The Novel is full of tension in the last 2/5 th part. As the ending drew near, the reader is literally shaking because of the tension and anxiety. The villain, the Russian Agent, is played by Pierce Brosnan in the Movie. I was just excited to know this beforehand. Every forsyth reader knows how well he plots his stories upto the last details. The book is full of twists and turns.. This book is a MASTERPIECE!!

I would place this book along with The Fist of God, and The Negotiator. But after The Day of the jackal and The Devil's Alternative. All the 8 forsyth novels I have read till now are masterpieces....dont miss them....I would go ahead and read The Avenger, The Deceiver, The Phantom of Manhattan and forsyth's story collection books - No Comebacks, The veteran.
