Yesterday I went to Planet Ford(Paud Road, Pune) and test drove both the diesel and Petrol versions.

I currently own Alto LXI and most of my observations would be in comparison with ALTO.

Initially when I sat inside and looked around it gave me feeling of roominess as not much of cluster is there. I felt the car would be a little difficult for driving judgment considering its length and width compared to alto but during driving I realized the cars is very easy to drive. From my point of view Figo is not the driver's delight ( zoom-zoom) type of car like Swift or A-Star but it is a total package and VFM considering space, cost and fuel efficiency

Pros:

  1. The door metal is heavy, sounds solid

  2. Rear Legroom is nice, 3 people of medium height and  build and easily be accommodated at rear.

  3. Huge boot of around 284 Ltrs, the rear seat can be folded to create a flat platform

  4. The diesel and petrol engines are very silent, after cranking the engine I asked the Salesman whether I really started the car.

  5. Gear Shift is accurate but a little hard( may it is in initial days) however what I liked was the precise steering feel.

  6. Good to have 1.5 litr bottle slots in the doors, however you can not keep bottles in the front slots adjecent to driver seat as the dashbord obstructs it.

  7. The coral dashborad does not look that bad but surely does not look  up-market

  8. Tubeless tyres

Cons:

  1. The diesel variant( I do not have experience of driving diesels) was sluggish or there was some lag kind of thing between pressing accelerator and the vehicle pick up

  2. The position of wipers( on right) and indicator( on left) is a nuisance like in Spark

  3. I am 5Ft 7 Inch and just shifted forward to see the end-line of Bonnet and I head dashed into roof. I feel the head room is a little tight and freighted people might find it a problem.

  4. The rear glass windows can not fully open

About fuel efficiency the sales guy said it is 15 Km/ltr with AC for petrol in CITY and 18/19 km/ltr on highway. For diesel he said 20 km/ltr in city and 22/24 km/ltr on Highway

Overall a decent package( Lxi petrol at 3.96 Lakhs and 5 lakhs for Diesel Lxi on road Pune). If petrol can derive a mileage of 15/16 km/ltr then this is surely going to unsettle some of the Big Names. If your usage is above 1500 km/month then the it would be worth buying that diesel with awesome efficiency of 20 km/ltr.
