I am the proud owner of Ford Figo 1.2 Duratec petrol ZXI. It was my dream to own a car from a long time and it come true on 31st March2010. This is my first car and did a extensive research before making the decision on which car to buy. My requirement was to have a hatch back, less driving in city as I use my bike to my office very close to my house, mostly highway driven <1000km/month, should fit 4-5 people easily in the car and can swallow good amount of luggage, low service cost and good FE on highways. My wife wants to travel a lot and used to do in bus and trains.

My first choice was to own Maruti Alto during mid of 2009 and started research on the used car. After the research and driving few used cars we have decided to go with a new car as my wife did not like to own a used car. Started looking at Alto, i10, Spark, Swift Petrol. We don’t have any idea of looking at Ford. Almost zeroed the option to i10 Magna by end 2009. Then came to know that Ford is releasing a hatch back with very competitive price in the segment. checked the specs, enquired about ford cars and mileage stuff with dealers and with friends who own Ford cars. Some people were not happy with the service but Ford cars are good. Have a dilema to decide regarding service and came to know the service network going to increase.

Finally.. Ford Figo released and read the review in team bhp and impressed with the features, space. We are getting fully loaded car but the price not yet declared. Went to Lathangi Ford Bangalore and

enquired about the car and given the details. I believe that was on 9th March 2010 received a message saying Figo starts from 3.49L. Amazed see the price and went to show room over the weekend. Test-drove the car. I am new driver and learnt the car driving few days back and drove couple my friends cars like maruti800 and Alto and Santro. The space inside is awesome and interior is good enough. My wife liked it very much and booked Figo Zxi Petrol on 15th March2010. Decided the colour as RED.

Completed the finance documentation and the loan approved in 5days. I wanted the car to be delivered before 31st March2010 as the prices going to increase from 1st April 2010 due to increase in tax. Sales man promised me to deliver the vehicle on 31st March2010. on 29th March, Salesperson called me and confirmed that the vehicle came to showroom and I can check the vehicle. I took friend to check the car on 30th March and verified all are working fine. We took the car delivery on 31st March at 11:30AM and drove the car straight to temple and complete pooja and all. We are very excited to see the car and drive my first car, the dream come true day.

Experience with the Car..

I don’t want to give any specs details of the car here. I drove the car on highway on the 4th day and drove 750km in 2days.. My friends were surprised to take the car to highway as I am a new driver.. I don’t believe the confidence that I have to drive the car on highways.. but, I managed to drive the car only in day time with limited speed. Filled the tank and started. The car cruising smooth on highways.. no noise.. gear shift was butter smooth. AC doing his job awesome.. chilled at level1. Audio system is very good enough .. I don’t want a dhoom dhoom woofer sounds in the car.. seating position is good and zxi have height adjustment.. felt some backpain and in the bottom and adjusted the height lever and no pain after that.. seating comfort is very good I did not feel any tiredness after driving for 200kms at a stretch. route was Bangalore to Anantapur to Kadiri to Anantapur and return to Bangalore.. total around 750kms.. fill the tank again in between.. only one bad thing is ground clearance issue when more than 4persons sitting in the car. We have some big humps at level crossing while going to Kadiri.. it touched the underneath for the first time and my body chilldown by hearing the thud sound.. and it happened while return journey..

Ford claims that it has GC as 168.. but due to soft suspension it is touching the humps when more than 4person in the car.. we have to cross the big humps 30 degrees diagonally to avoid the hit. Electrically adjustable ORVMS are very use full when parking the car and in reverse.. I can see everything on both sides without any difficulty.. Car is very stable even at 110kmph.. Effortless driving and very comfortable for long journeys.. head lights are not that much powerful .. changed them to Philips extreme vision.. need to check the improvement on highway.. going out next week to Mantralayam and Srisailam.. I will check and update the performance..

Boot space is huge, can easily swallow two big luggage box and bags inside.. Distance to empty indicator is helpful to assess the fuel to complete.. Now the millions dollar question is FE.. It gave me 16kmpl in highway during the first trip.. after that We went several trips and the highest mileage I have got is 18kmpl with speed 80-90kmph with 50%AC.. in City 12-13kmpl.. going to complete first year on this 31st and completed 11700km.. Overall Car is VFM and recommend to other people.. Ford should look at Ground Clearance issue for the car..

Dear Figo Owners.. did anyone try upgrading the car tyre/wheels to upper size to increase the ground clearance.. let me suggest if anyone did it and if any issues after upgrade..

I have gone through some thread in teambhp.. and found.. like upgrading 195/70 R14, suspension spacers, increasing the wheels to R15.. not sure.. which one suits best and will not void any warranty..

True value for money car.. Thank you all.. welcome your comments.. Happy Figoing...
