Land Rover -A TRUE 4X4. Review on Ford Endeavour

I am writing this review under FORD ENDEAVOUR as FORD is the parent company of LAND ROVER.

Land rover is the ultimate 4x4 wheel drive vehicle ever since its advent in the the automobile market. Since its launch it has captured the imagination of the people all over the world. It has proven it s mettle on all kinds of terrain be it the sands and heat of Africa or to the extreme clod of Antarctica or Alaska. Land Rover faced it all with no glitch.

Backed by excellent after sales service and the events which Land Rover as a company organizes for its customers have made Land Rover the ultimate 4X4 machine. The Land Rover organizes various events and camps across America and Canada, where the owners of various variants of Land Rover come together and check what 4x4 is really about and share their experiences.

Over the past 55 years, Land Rover has meticulously engineered eight iconic models. Today, Land Rover innovation is taking on bold new shapes and gaining rapid momentum. From the very first Land Rover vehicle to the futuristic conceptual Range Stormer, Land Rover remains faithful to the core values engineered into each and every vehicle: authenticity, adventure, guts and supremacy. The legend endures.

1948 was the year when the Legend Began. The first Land Rover was built by brothers Spencer and Maurice Wilks for British car company Rover, rolls off the production line. It was engineered to reach rural British terrain no other vehicle could. The main features of the first Land Rover were Sparse; utilitarian design includes short wheelbase, short front and rear overhangs, 4-wheel-drive system, low-weight aluminum bodywork. It was mainly a work vehicle of choice for drivers of the military, agriculture and emergency services. No doubt it was immensely popular from the day it was launched.

In the year 1958?1971 came the Land Rover Series II and IIA with a new design and engineering refinements. It had more sculpted appearance and larger, more powerful engine , longer wheelbase, improved stability, tighter turning radius result in more responsive ride This lead to Land Rover taking the lead in emerging market for 4-wheel-drive vehicles in the 60?s.

The year 1970 marked the Global Debut of Range Rover, The launch of Range Rover in 1970 met with an immediate critical acclaim this year also saw a British army major driving his Range Rover in six-month journey from Anchorage, Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina. This showed to the world the true class and worthiness of Land Rover. Various design enhancements were made to make for beautifully proportioned car during this period .A light V8 engine which was coupled with coil suspension this provided a car-like performance and comfort to its passengers.

During the 1980s, the Lineage of Land rover was expanded. A new Land Rover was introduced which was technologically advanced with all new -synchromesh transmission.

This enhancement lead to better on- and off-road capabilities. This earned Land Rover a distinction in endurance motor sports events including the Paris?Dakar rally (which is my personal favorite)

In 1984?Defender 90 was launched and in 1987?the first U.S.-specification Range Rovers went on sale in the United States and it met with immediate success. Land Rover unveiled the first Discovery ( this was the path breaking vehicle in its era and still is ) 1989 saw the Range Rover continue to gain momentum, winning accolades and becoming the must-have 4x4 vehicle.

Now, in the present times Range Rover has launched Range Stormer. This is Land Rover's first-ever concept car. It has come up with Land Rover LR3 which has been voted the 2005 MOTOR/UTILITY VEHICLE of the YEAR 2005 which a fitting reward for this true off-roader.

Let?s hope that Land rover keeps on making such great 4x4 vehicles which keeps on delivering to the expectations of its users. And set path breaking standards for the 4X4 vehicle's of the future.
