Before we had kids, my husband and I dined out a couple of times a week. The one thing(aside from poor service or bad food) that could ruin the night was a loud table nearby: usually screaming/fighting kids or diners who drank too much and guffawed endlessly as if they had just discovered the concept of humor. Now that we have kids(2 & 3), we don't inflict them on other people any more than we have to. When we want to go to something other than a family restaurant, we get a babysitter. And when they're older, we'll practice dining etiquette at home rather than trying to teach it to them at restaurants.
