FlipKart= Heart Attack!

On 3rd Aug 2013 I ordered Sony Alpha 77VM along with lowepro 170 camera bag and Sony SF-32Ux class 10 memory card and Sandisk SDHC 32 gb class 10 memory card totaling a payment of Rs. 79453 after a very good discount.


I received the delivery today (6th August). When the delivery person (it was Flipkart employee and not any courier boy) handed over the box to me it felt very light and when I asked the delivery person if I can open it before signing the receipt, he denied and asked me to sign. When I signed and started to open, he started to go away in haste and saying over his shoulder that if I find  any problem with the order I can call flipkart customer care.


It took me a couple of minutes to find the tape cutter and when I opened the box, to my horror there was funskool digger the dog toy worth Rs 399 inside the carton. There was no invoice or bill. On the sticker on the outer package my correct order number was listed. I instantly called up the delivery person and asked him to return to me immediately and told him about the wrong contents, he refused to come and said can call flipkart customer care or even police.


I called up Flipkart customer care and they admitted that it was a human error at Flipkart. And I was promised that they have escalated the matter and that I would receive the original items that I had ordered within 3 business days. Also, the action will be taken against the delivery person who was kind of rude. However, as there was some bug in their systems, I was asked to call  back after 7 pm to get the help.


I will again call them after 7pm. My advice to you, NEVER EVER agree to accept the delivery from online stores unless the delivery person opens the box and lets you check the ordered items.


I know, I will follow this for the rest of my life. As it almost gave me a heart attack and my heart beat remained way high and I kept shivering due to anxiety during my entire conversation with Flipkart customer care.


Update:


At about 4:30pm today got a call from some ekart (Flipkart's delivery division) supervisor, who then visited me for investigation. During his investigation he found:




  1. The Flipkart adhesive tape was not tampered with, (which absolves the transit people).




  2. The package weight was 1200 gms as per the delivery sheet, and when then weighed the package here it was 1220 gms. (which absolves me) as the the total weight of the items that I ordered excluding any kind of boxes or packaging comes officially to be 1533 gms (camera body, battery, lens, camera bag, memory cards) and including packaging bound to go higher than 2 kgs.






The funny part is that the person kept updating his seniors about his findings, but refrained from committing any resolution to me. He said, these findings will go to the regional managers etc and you will get one or the other solution in a day or two. (aapko ek do din mein koi na koi solution mil jaayega).


Let's see...I am still waiting to call flipkart customer care after 7 pm.


Let's see..Called up and talked to Rajiv (Customer Care Supervisor). He told me that the team concerned is out for the day and that I can expect a resolution tomorrow (7-Aug-13) afternoon, and he would call me back.


Let's see...Received a call today (7-Aug-13) from the team concerned (Mr Arun from technical team). He enquired about the issue took number of the ekart investigator and then told me he would contact me by evening or tomorrow (8-Aug-13) with update about resolution.


Received call at around 5:30 pm on 7th August from Mr Arun. He informed me that a replacement order for all the items was being created and an executive from flipkart would come to deliver it to me in 2-3 business days, and will collect the faulty delivery at the same time.


Anxiously waiting...


Received today (9-Aug-13) the 2 memory cards, and the camera bag in 2 different deliveries. The camera shipment in the flipkart.com's order track status page is still in the 'seller yet to confirm' status. Of what use are the other items if I do not receive the camera at the time when I need it.


I called up customer care and told by them that Mr Arun who is a very senior official is personally taking care of this and regardless of whatever status it is showing  on the order status page, I would get the camera by tomorrow (10-Aug-13), as seller is none other than WS Retails that is flipkart's own division...


I am still very anxious...and the only thing preventing a heart attack to me is - I have recordings of all the outgoing and incoming calls to Flipkart...
