First thing sold on flipkart - It was a book, of course - "Leaving Microsoft To Change The World" by John Wood. The order was placed on October 22nd, 2007(22:24:17, to be exact) and was delivered to Mahbubnagar, a city 150KM outside of Hyderabad.
Flipkart was first of its kind in India. Flipkart has seen a tremendous rise due to availability of Cash-on-delivery in flipkart while others like e-bay, amazon did not have it. Moreover it is seen as an Indian company.
