I'm a heavy online shopper and most of my purchases including electronics are bought online. I have dealt with most of the popular indian shopping websites like ebay, letsbuy, flipkart etc. The experiance with each of these websites has been very decent but flipkart stands out from the rest on most of the counts. here are a few points I would like to highlight.
1) Customer service & delivery time : One thing that stands out when it comes to flipkart is customer service and delivery time. I have ordered many things in the past and most of the time my order reaches me in less than 48 hours. There has been cases where I have received some of the books in 36 hours flat. Only other shopping website that comes to my mind in tems of fast service is ebay., recently received a mobile phone from ebay in less than 3 days.
2) VFM pricing: The prices on Flipkart.com is very competitive compared to the local market. Most of the computer peripherals carries a very good discount and not to mention the prices of books which also carries good discounts and on top of it one gets free shipping on all order above 100 rupees
3) Payment options: there are wide range of payment options including Cash on delivery( I miss it on ebay), credit card , debit cards and netbanking. Recently flipkart has also launched EMI options. I have not made any EMI transactions yet but the option seems to be good for high value products like TV.
4) Customer centric policies : I like the piece of mind which 30 days return policy offers on most of the products including electronics. Nothing is more disheartening to receive a product and discover that its DOA( dead on arrival) or the product stops working within a few days of purchase. One can return the product back to flipkart if there is any manufacturing defect within first 30 days.
here are a few negative points.
1) Range of products: No shopping website can match Ebay in this regard. Ebay has ton's and ton's of product under one roof and range of products are simply amazing. Flipkart is catching up. Recently I received a mail from flipkart that they have added home appliances and TV( only in metros) but still there is a long long way to go before it reaches anywhere close to ebay in terms of range of products
2) Out of stock : Some of the items that are listed on flipkart are out of stock for months. for example Samsung galaxy pro mobile. I was keeping a track of this mobile on flipkart since I was interested in buying it but it was out of stock for weeks and finally I made the purchase from ebay and received the product in 3 days for a better price.
3) No discount coupons: I agree that the prices are very competitive but as a customer it is always nice to have those extra discounts. There are various discounts coupons one can apply on Ebay.in , letsbuy and other website but flipkart doesn't seem to be have that option. I will not say it's a big minus point but discount coupons are a good way to attract the customers.
To sum it up Flipkart is a great place to shop and one can buy with confidence and if things go wrong they have a decent customer service who will be happy to help.
I really thank the readers for showing the patience to go through my review. if you have any comment please free feel to post them.
