This review is written in June 2010. At this moment, there are over half a dozen websites in India selling books online at very competitive prices. Flipkart is one of them. In my first order about one week back, I was impressed by the speed of delivery, got my order delivered within the 3 business days as mentioned during my ordering.
When I opened the package, upon close inspection of the books, I found each book carrying a sticker at the back promoting flipkart.com. This is in bad taste since it's a sticker and doesn't come off easily from the books. Plus I had paid for these books, some of the books were meant to be gifts for my friends and these stickers gave an impression as if the books were subsidised or something.
Yes, the stickers could be removed with some effort with some residual stickie gum on the book covers. what amazed me is the audacity of this company to go with its promotional message on paid merchandise which I feel is an unfair practice. I tried to reach the company for their comments without success.
An innocent bookmark promoting the company is something a consumer would welcome but pasting its promotional sticker on the back cover of the book flouts customer trust.
