Controversy. Review on Five Worst Reviews on MouthShut

This is the topic which most of them would hesitate to write as equally as some of them would be interested to write to get attention from controversies. It is difficult to pick only five from a lot. Of course, there are lots of bad reviews rolling on the site recently. As usual, I am not going to pick five worst reviews. I hope I am eligible to list out my thoughts in this topic as I have been here for more than one year. I am going to list some of the ?Reviews? writing (not writing habits) habits that I don?t like (May not be bad) in MS. I will try my best to avoid hurting anyone in specific in the course of writing.

Controversial Reviews on Controversial Topics

There are these topics meant to write controversial reviews and grab attention from other members like ?Five worst reviewers?, ?Five worst reviews? etc., I accept that there are some genuine and honest reviews without and with mentioning star writers names on these topics too.

Mostly these topics are used by envious new writers who are frustrated by less attention by others to trash some popular writers without any proper justification. And also to our surprise also some of the good writers here create a separate ID to write trash reviews on this topic to hurt others.

And so, if you go through all reviews under these topics you will find all possible worst contents in a review such as Personal bashings, vengeance, critiquing their photos, public profiles etc.,. I prefer to leave these reviews unrated when I come across such. I also feel such reviews should not be rated at all by any members as every one of us clearly knows the purpose of the review. Just don?t waste your precious time by commenting on such reviews even if there is a mention of your name. Just ignore the review and teach them a lesson.

Here is one Suggestion that I added as a comment in one of recent reviews. MS should set a criterion to write reviews on these sensitive topics. How can a debut writer write a review on ?Five best and worst writers? of the site? So, my idea is only the Star writers should be given rights and access to write on such topics. Doing so, we can get honest reviews on these topics. Even I recollect some member suggested adding a category to review the reviewers of the site. Even that is possible if such a criterion is set.

So called ?Personal Touch? in Reviews

Consider that you are entering a site to read a movie review and if you read everything else other than about the movie in its first paragraph like a description on how he went to the theatre and how he got the ticket in the crowd and all those unnecessary stuff, what will you do? You will just come out the site, Right. Similarly, I never liked those personal stuffs in this site.

It is a place to share your thoughts on a personal experience on a particular product and not your personal life. If in the review you mention ?I literally cried while watching this particular scene in the movie? it is your personal experience and if you write ?I cried for not getting the movie ticket for the first show? is your personal life which is nowhere has any relevance to the content of the movie. Basically one should know what ?Personal Touch? in the review means.

It is the unique style in which you write. Nobody is patient enough to read all those real life stories that one writes for a book/ movie / music review how entertaining it may be. To quench your thirst of creativity, there are lots and lots of Advice topics in MS like ?Five best gifts?, ?Five best XYZ? on all products where you have a freehand. Please don?t try out in straight product reviews.

The site is basically a consumer information service. A lot more can be discussed on this. I will pour more views of mine on this if any debate arises in comments on this point. Just read Kalil.rahman?s review to know what the real meaning of ?Personal Touch? in reviews is, he will never go outside the topic for the sake of creativity and making it entertaining. They are straight to the core and yet unique in style.

Badly Formatted Reviews

The whole reviews written as a single paragraph without any sub paragraphs, sub headings, without any formatting, with spelling mistakes, with grammatical errors, with the usage of languages other than English, usage of short cut words like we use in SMS and chat messages, with very high level of English which needs more readings to understand completely for which nobody has enough patience for etc are some of the bad practices in ?Review? writing which altogether makes a review unpleasant to read.

Cut and Paste Reviews

These are some of the best reviews in other website which when copied and pasted here becomes the worst review of a reviewer as it is not his original opinion on the product / service. Even we can forgive people those who copy and paste the entire review but sometimes I have read reviews which is a tactful remix of reviews from other website with minor changes with his own words to make it look like an original one. Some of the pretentious writers deliberately do this.

Miscellaneous

Reviews on Movie personalities are meant to review his works and not his personal life. But most of the reviews on movie personalities are focused on their personal life rather than their professional career and their works. Reviews on movies even before the release of the movie. It is straightly opposite to what reviews are meant to be. How can one judge a movie even before its release? There are lots of such reviews here.

Though all that I have mentioned above will not strictly come under ?Worst? reviews category they are not good enough to be a review. Some of the points may be good for writing in a blog / article / Column but bad for ?Review? writing especially in MS. When lot of healer reviews on ?Five best reviews/reviewers? is flowing in, I apologize for penning this one which may affect the harmony again, but somehow I wanted to convey my opinion on this issue.
