Worst 5 bikes soiled our Indian soil.

To make matters simple and straight forward lemme start as I can’t resist to put these worst bikes here ever seen on Indian roads.

Enfield Bullet: Oops I think I bit the bullet here. I agree this has a huge fan following and many are enamored with this rattling, vibrating piece of metal. Many even consider themselves manly and macho by riding this iron granny whose technology was abandoned by British when they left India. Mind you even later British have never been good in motorcycle technology as Japanese always had a lead. Guys lets accept the fact that Enfield has done nothing but greedy about money hence priced these iron grannies exorbitantly. Pathetic handling, poor performance, useless suspension and horrible vibration is what prefixes aptly. I have not seen any major improvements in 50 years except a 500 version, help from Egli - Swiss saw 635 version but rarer than plutonium due to heavy pricing and lastly shifting the gear lever onto left in thunderbird parallely increasing the price again. They caught imagination of common folk with electra and thunderbird, Indians were floored with the cruiserlooks but at the bottom were the same old lumps of metal. Some chrome here and it's called X and some paint there it's 10k more and called something else. I almost ROFL when I see guys riding TB’s with a bursting ego. It’s almost clear that there are specimens to buy 50 year old technology paying close to lakh and still feel on top of world. Guys you are pioneers in self motivation. hats off to you all. No offences to self assumed macho Enfield riders, but these are hard facts. Hey even Enfield Diesel is a worthy mention and an effort to adapt an agricultural 6.5 bhp engine to draw crowds is indeed courageous and commendable. I pity that 325 cc diesel mill as it looked like a ol tiny mule trying to pull a heavy iron corpse.

Enfield Explorer and Silver Plus: All in all I think Enfield has utilized the Indian market by maximum margin inspite of selling total crap. Indian commuters were taken for a ride by horrible technology from Zundapp. 50cc engines wailing to move forward coupled with horrible handling and horrible carburation. Heavy on maintenance as parts hardly lasted and owners were cursed and doomed by mistakes of Enfield. Enfield never rectified their mistakes and continued to produce until people stopped buying.

Enfield Fury: Beautiful engine with 15 bhp and pretty quick . Famed Brembo disk brakes made way into India on front wheels of Fury and ofcourse the first bike to sport a disc brake here. Good suspension in front and but a complete let down by bad ones at rear an absolute mismatch. First batch was an instant hit but people realized later it had serious gear slipping problems, faulty carburation, false neutrals, and vibration. Make way for Fury GP with some changes to gearbox and boasted two tone racy paint schemes and claim that gear box problems solved. First time Indians witnessed a bike with rubber mounted engine but overall failed miserably due to Enfield’s any thing sells here attitude. Fury died a silent death. Overall Enfield’s survival has shocked me. inspite of all crappy models it still sells at premium. Kudos to you guys and thanks for polluting the country’s youth with outdated technology at astronomical prices. Enfield had already experimented in 70’s with two stroke 175 only to fail miserably. Enfield don’t try different things, just sell the grandpa technology . it works good for you here.

Bajaj Sunny: Why did Bajaj makes this in first place? Was the R&D allowed to freak out? Or the guy who designed this had planned to quit Bajaj and was waiting for a good opportunity to wreak his vendetta. All in all it was all things done wrong in one place at one time. Engine sounded like a strangled grasshopper and plastic seem to be fragile than the one in bathroom mug. Nervous handling, snuff tin drum brakes and fuel efficiency was no great shakes. Ended up as free gift with another horrible bike from Bajaj – Enduro. Who ever bought both is according to me a very sorry soul and must be doing good for his sins committed in past life.

Yamaha Fazer: A world renowned name ‘ Fazer’ but sold with a .ahh what do I call that fairing which can only be loved by a speciman from Pluto. I almost got scared when I saw it for first time and thought it must’ve been designed with an intention that people will run away the moment they see this coming thus saving them effort of using horn. C’mon Yamaha how can you go down the drain so badly. First flying high in 80’s with thunderous RD 350, then RX 100 from 86 onward. simmered with RXG later, screwed it up with 135 and ended up with Crux, Fazer. What next?. Hmm give us more we are ready to buy what ever you throw out.
