Spare us, Give up

Though including yesteryears and today there would be a host of guys who can qualify as the worst actors, I’ll limit this list to those guys who are currently visible in movies.

Aftab Shivdasani

Its high time someone asks this chap to stop unleashing his acting talents on us and instead model for some ayurvedic toothpaste. His 64 teeth and expansive pink lips would be better appreciated there.

Besides, he is too childish, very irksome, has a jarring voice, uses wrongs expressions for the wrong scenes, no sense of timing in comedy, and hams to the hilt. I have had the gross misfortune of watching him in Awara Paagal Deewana, Kasoor yikes!!!! & Jaani Dushman.

Armaan Kohli (a.k.a. Munish Kohli)

Some people can’t give up. Although his frequency of appearances has dwindled, nevertheless he forces his Dad to make him a re-launch movie every two years. Kunal Goswami falls in this category too, so did Kishen Kumar. Thankfully the latter two have apparently stopped.

Sanjay Kapoor

Ditto. He has tried action, comedy, romance, villainy, almost everything. Always had the best of heroines opposite him, but all to no avail. Sanjay Kapoor is such a case that you don’t even feel like wasting time analyzing his faults. Give up man, learn to let go. There exist in this world other avenues of gainful employment.

Abhishek Bachchan

Such a huge icon at home to measure up to, very unfair to the poor guy. But try hard not to see him as Bachchan Jr. and just as any other newcomer, yet he doesn’t pass the muster.

Nana Patekar

Tops my list hands down. I don’t like this man at all. Slapping his head all the time, laughing cynically, mouthing some sick crudity-laced dialogues (in breakneck speed) that are meant to reflect the common man’s tribulations. I remember some promos of his C-grade film in which he ranted manically about how one mosquito can transform a man into a eunuch. I bet he writes these himself.

If you have seen one Nana Patekar movie you have seen them all, its just his decibels of shouting that vary. Be it Krantiveer, Tiranga, Hu Tu Tu, Shakti, Ghulam-e-Mustafa, Agnisakshi, he was essentially playing the same character everywhere, that of a pompous, pessimistic, mentally sick person. The man is a headache and it shows on his co-stars faces.

-------------------------------------------------------

Besides these 5 guys, I have to mention of a few others who appear in character roles, but are equally unbearable.

Alok Nath

Ever since Hum Aapke Hain Kaun till date, I’ve been driven up the wall whenever he appears wearing a sugary smile and going heh heh heh heh heh heh heh in an irritating and meaningless manner. He is usually the paunchy father or an uncle of either of the lead players and has to act naughty and coy during wedding songs along with Rima Lagoo or Himani Shivpuri. I was happiest when he died early in K3G, at least one torture element was terminated soon. He sends waves of revulsion through audiences.

Mukesh Khanna

This clown can’t get over Bhishma Pitamah and applies the same bombastic style in any other role he does. Those who have been the unfortunate few who saw Guddu (I’ve seen it. Please forgive me, I have no taste) or any other of his movies will remember he thought he actually was Bhishma Pitamah. Now I hear he suffers from a Shaktimaan hangover.

Laxmikant Berde

An unending assault to the ears. Plus he acts like a retarded oaf in the name of comedy. The man jabbers in a gratingly high pitched n nasal manner. I used to simply shut my eyes and poke an index finger in each ear whenever he appeared, then ask my neighbour to inform me that he had left the scene.

------------------------------------------------------

Of course one must also make a passing mention of guys like Atul Agnihotri, Harish, Chandrachud Singh, Arshad Warsi, Mukul Dev, Aditya Pancholi, Chunkey Pandey and of course Himalay. Imagine a movie with all these guys together......

----------------------------------------------------

Following are few more actors I do not like, but do not figure in the worst list as at times they do or have done some good work. Plus they are interesting in their own way.

Shahrukh Khan

He was bearable only in Devdas. Otherwise I find him a major put-off, his stammering, mannerisms, dialogue delivery, cocky 'I'm the best' attitude all included.

Salman Khan

Has been lucky enough to fit himself in big hits, and that’s it.

Off late he acts deranged in his movies.

Hrithik Roshan

A male version of Helen, what with revealing-glittering costumes (add a few feathers and the Helen look would be complete), liquid limbs, item numbers etc. After KNPH, he has just gone downhill.
