Many singers and actors have come and gone. Some are alive and some are dead. Some have gone into the state of oblivion. These singers were very famous in their time but sadly forgotten now. These very people were greatly sought for their talent and have won awards too. I just wish to remember them and let others too know about them. There are many of the forgotten singers but I am writing here only about few. From these Shailendra Singh and Anwar are my favourite singers.
Salma Agha – Is an actress and a singer who has acted both in Indian and Pakistani movies. Her first film Nikaah was a super duper hit film, She won the Filmfare Best Female Playback Award in 1982 for the ghazal "Dil ke Armaan" in Nikaah. Since then she has worked in numerous films and has cut many albums. She is settled with her husband in London now and occasionally cuts an album , has been keeping a low profile.
She has a nasal voice which lends uniqueness to her voice.

Uma Devi- She is also known as Tun Tun , the comedienne par excellence. Her excellent timing made her one of the best in the field. She has sung many songs and before she became an actress she was a singer. She has sung many memorable songs. She is sadly no longer alive but one can still remember her with certain fondness.

Shailendra Singh – He was also known as the voice of Rishi Kapoor/ Mithun . He is one of my most fav singers, simply love his voice. He has acted in few movies but didn’t have much luck with them. Songs sung by him in Bobby are still famous.

Anwar – Few people know he is the brother of actress Asha Sachdev and half brother of Arshad Warsi. He was a good singer, gave innumerable hits but drug addiction led to his downfall. He had voice which was similar to Rafi.

Shabbir Kumar –He was a leading singer in 80’s trying to fill the lacuna left by Rafi. He was the biggest fan of Rafi. He has sung some famous songs. I do not where he is now but do remember his songs. The songs of Betaab and coolie made him very famous.

I hope you all like this review and if you have any latest information on them please share with me. There are many singers who are not remembered today, one of them is Mubarak Begum, who is in a sad state today. She has a daughter who is terminally ill and is staying below a staircase in some building. ( I read this somewhere). Pity them really, when they were famous people used to flock towards them now who cares!! These forgotten singers should be remembered don't you think so ?
