Five on a Treasure Island is the first book of FAMOUS FIVE series of Enid Blyton, if you all know who she is, and I am damn sure if you all went to libraries of your school, and had an interest in reading books(obviously kid books) then you will be familiar with her. I had long known her by books, since our school library had this series in its collection, and I used to read them. But this time I got a chance to own it, so I started again, going 1 by 1. So I bought the first book of series FOATI(Five on a Treasure Island).
This story was first published in 1942, on which movie / TV adaptations has been done. I loved the FAMOUS FIVE TV SERIES, those were the days when you don't have any tensions of life. When I read this one again, I felt child again, I felt I should follow their untwisted paths and should go on such adventures, without any tensions of life. This is the most intriguing characteristics of Enid characters, yes they are child - 4 child & a Dog, and since they are child, they are uncomplicated, and simple yet full of queries and want of adventurism.
So here the story goes. 3 siblings Julian, Dick & Anne went to their uncles house for the summer vacation, their uncle Quentin had bad temper, and their uncle & aunt had a lovely daughter of their same age named Georgina aka George, with whom they can make friendship and pass their time. Georgina doesn't like herself being a girl, she always wanted to be a boy, so she called herself George instead, and she is a hard girl, didn't make friends easily. But her life changed when she met her other 3 cousins, and together alongwith her dog Timothy, they went to an adventure right next to their door - in Kirrin Island. Will they be able to solve the mystery, or will they face any troubles, read it to find it if you haven't read it yet.
As already said above, this is a kid book, i.e. meant for kids, its language is obviously simple with the incidents and ongoing as simple as it could be, even the mystery is not that hard, since children love these stories but their mind level is not as grown as an adult one. Book is pocket size with around 200 pages, for which I took 16 days. Even adults can read this book, as it always give pleasure in reading a good and healthy adventure book, plus if you have gone to school. And those who wanted to start reading books child/adult alike. And in today's times, when even a small child started working / using all kind of gadgets which in turn making them dumb instead of making them known the good things of this world like reading, this is a good start, you can buy this whole series of 21 books, and can gift it to your kids or other kids, and make them read.
Last but not the least, Let me just summarize details of author(as taken from Wikipedia). Enid was an English Children book writer, born in 1897 in London, died in 1968 in London. Not only this series, but she also wrote many other notable works. I rate this novel as 4/5.
