Beauty at its best

Its difficult to write on this topic after all there are so many stunning beauty in Indian cinema. But out of those ,five most beautiful woman are

1.Madhuri Dixit

There can never be a Bollywood beauty countdown minus the Ek, Do, Teen belle. There was a time millions of Indian men would freely give away millions to find out Madhuri ki choli ke peechhe exactly kya tha. And one suspects many still would.

Madhuri uniquely packed a deadly combo of heart-stopping looks and vivacity, she could set the screen on fire with her dazzling smile. In ‘Devdas’, at the age of 36, she effortlessly eclipsed the more happening Ash. And unlike the latter, this middle-class Maharashtrian beauty was no Barbie… her memorably erotic lovemaking scenes with Vinod Khanna in the 1988 ‘Dayavan’, had the censors tantalizingly push the envelope. MF Hussain’s ageing heart didn’t go dhak-dhak on his muse for nothing.

2.Kajol

Complexion - nothing to write home about. Dancing abilities - zilch. Features - very dicey. Figure – er, we’ll let that pass. Yet, Kajol’s was the most attractive face of the nineties. When she appeared on screen, ‘kuch kuch ho raha hai!’ is all we could mumble. What works for the actress is great character, fab personality, a compelling presence. She combines intensity and vulnerability like no other.Kajol is the rare movie star who’s blessed with the ability to arouse passions in a plain-jane salwar kameez. A human dynamo loaded with tonnes of kinetic energy, and a super attitude to match. To even covet Kajol, you have to raise your own bar as a man. We spontaneously fell in love with all of them. With Simran. And with both the Anjalis. The college tomboy. And the Chandni Chowk kudi.

3.He Hema Malini

The southie ‘dream girl’ superbly combined beauty, grace, style and charisma… and amazingly enough, continues to do so after all these years. No wonder Laloo famously wished roads in Bihar were ‘as smooth as the cheeks of Hema Malini’. All the top movie heroes of her time were desperate to marry the actress, and one happily altered his religion to be able to tie the knot. But not before the macho jat had publicly walloped a lady journo for writing wicked things on his ladylove.

Her daughter, who’s already shed lots more, needs to learn something from mommy….

4.Shabana Azmi

Shabana has never lived up to the conventional definition of beauty. Her allure emanates from the great intensity she brings to Indian cinema. And the captivating simplicity she has always embodied. Noise, dignity, courage, charm… she continues to be all that an Indian woman desires to be. If we could put a face to feminism in our country, it has be, without a doubt, that of Shabana. And this awesome actress has always been an icon in whatever she’s chosen to do in her life. Be it films or social activism. And in that inner strength lies explosive sex appeal.

5.Smita Patil

Like Shabana, not your typical beauty queen. Smita would ordinarily be cast in the before section of a Fair & Lovely commercial. But this dusky, earthy Pune belle could radiate searing sexuality in the most mundane scenes. We cannot imagine any other Bollywood actress managing to look half as desirable playing a foul-mouthed slum dweller (‘Chakra’). It took the commercial directors many years before they discovered the sensuousness that was Smita Patil.
