1995.

How do I look?** - my brother's wife was asking him. He had gifted her a new dress and she had tried it for the first time.

You look damn cute- said my brother. Doesn't she?- he asked me, beaming.

I looked at my Bhabhi. She was in her seventh month of pregnancy, puffed up from all sides.

Wonderful!- I said, as I watched her wobble around.

Truly, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder!

THE REVIEW

As I said above, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. So, what might look beautiful to me, might not be as beautiful for you. Everyone is unique, and has his own opinion about all things. Here I am, with my opinion on the most beautiful Bollywood actresses. You better respect my opinion, or else.I will come in your dreams! Mind you!

So here comes my list:

Madhubala(The Ethereal Beauty)

I can bet that this name features in all the reviews under this category. Her real name was Mumtaz Ataullah Khan, and first featured as a child artist in the 1942 film Basant. It was seven years later when Mahal was released, that the nation was swept off it's feet by a sixteen year old beauty known as Madhubala. Though it was not her first film as a heroine, this film was definitely a milestone in her career.and a milestone in the history of the Indian Panorama. They say that beauty and tragedy walk hand in hand. Madhubala had to face many heartbreaks, first with Premnath, then with Dilip Kumar, before she finally married Kishore Kumar. Ironically, doctors found a hole in her heart, and her last years were filled with pain and suffering, before she passed away in 1969, at the young age of 36.

Striking Feature/s

Undoubtedly her smile.and her big round eyes, and her hair, and her lips, and.I can go on! I loved her the most in the song Ik ladki bheegi bhaagi si. Especially when she stops a sneeze. Madhubalaji.there will never ever be anyone else like you!

WAHEEDA REHMAN(The Traditional Beauty)

I admit, I never liked her face initially. But when I saw her in the film Chaudhavi ka chaand, I had to lose my argument with my father. Yes.she was indeed beautiful. After making a debut in the Telugu Film Industry, Waheeda was spotted by none other than Guru Dutt, who opened the doors of Bollywood to the talented actress. Her role as a prosttute in *Pyaasa will forever be remembered as one of the best debuts. She went on to do a lot of challenging roles. Notable films include Guide, CID, Neelkamal and Kaagaz ke phool.

Striking Feature/s

I personally feel that it was the way she carried herself. Her eyes were intoxicating.

Sharmila Tagore(The Dimpled Beauty)

When Kashmir ki kali was released, the Indian audience was lost in the dimples of this girl. A typical Bengali beauty, Sharmila created waves with her daredevil scenes. In those times, she comfortably made bikini appearances and role of a cabaret dancer(An Evening in Paris), and was labeled as a sex symbol. Then she took a small break when she married the Nawab of Pataudi. When she did come back, the Indian audience saw her in a very intense role in the film Aradhana. She went on to shine in many memorable roles like the housewife in Grihapravesh and the protitute in *Mausam.

Striking Feature/s

Of course her dimples. And her eyes! And her figure! Oooomph!

Hema Malini(The Dancing Beauty)

Truly, the Indian film industry has seen the golden era when there was only one heroine who could pull the crowds. That was this south Indian damsel. Aptly labeled as the dream girl, she indeed gave sleepless nights to the youth of her times. She was fondly called the lucky mascot, who helped sagging careers of big stars like Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna and Jeetendra. Her first director Sridhar must have eaten his words when she retired from her career. He had written her off as an actress not having star appeal. In the later years, Hema Malini concentrated on her first love- dance, and is still doing it!

Striking Feature/s

Her eyes. They have that little tinge of naughtiness. I particularly liked her in Satte pe Satta and Naseeb. She was breathtakingly beautiful.

Madhuri Dixit(The Magical Beauty)

If smiles could kill, I guess Madhuri Dixit would have faced capital punishment. Highly expressive eyes, great features, and the million dollar smile was all that she was equipped with when she entered the film industry with her debut in Abodh. Gradually, this Marathi Mulgi learnt the tricks of the trade, and after a great career, can boast of superb performances in films like Tezaab, Beta, Mrityudand and Hum Aapke hain Kaun.

Striking Feature/s

I am sure that majority of her fans will agree with me that her best feature is her addictive smile. Boy.she can kill!

PLEASE NOTE

As everyone knows, the limit of five makes us leave out many deserving beauties. But here, I did like to mention the names of actresses who indeed deserved to be mentioned but were left out due to the number restriction. Rekha, Suchitra Sen, Aishwarya Rai, Kajol, Meena Kumari and Nutan are some of the faces that I remember now.

IN CONCLUSION
