Preface

This review is intended to take care of every age-group's taste. For Best Results, to map to your perception of beauty, follow the rule: If you are less than 30, go to the DROOL Section, if between 30 – 60, go to the ARTIST’s DELIGHT section. If you have one foot in the grave, go the LAST SECTION in this review. I know you wont pay heed to any of this. In which case start reading from the next line. I was just trying to play the role of a “beautiful n dutiful” author.

The ARTIST’s DELIGHT Beauties

If you are a juvenile sketcher, you probably had been advised “Draw the eyes accurately – the right shape & size to make your sketch perfect”. If I were that instructor, I would simply give my students an exercise in drawing the eyes of Mumtaz, one of the most beautiful faces that graced in the late 60s & early 70s. Though her performances never took her to the pinnacle of ‘The HEROINE’, she always was the most preferred actress for her dazzling beauty. Aaj Kal nahi, Hamesha tere mere pyar ke charche har zabaan par honge.

If eyes could be a dominant factor of “Expression”, Lips curve out a close second. And if those luscious lips always sport a broad radiant smile, then you are probably looking at Juhi Chawla. Hitting the waves of success with QSQT in the gharelu looks mode, & then type casted for a while in the same slot, Juhi proved she was no minnow when she had to grease herself for more glamour roles. Whatever the role, the smile stole the hearts. Tu Haan kar, ya Na Kar, tu hai meri JJJJJuhi …

Imagine if those big expressive eyes n always smiling lips have a dimpled chin, tho kya kehne! That’s Preity Zinta, one of the most exuberant, buoyant , Chirpy, happy-go-lucky, yet sensible, level-headed actress in the film industry. Shooting to prominence when caught having perk during a “bhook hartal”, she did deliver some extremely stellar performances both to the critic’s & the gallery’s delight. She is one actress, for whom I don’t hesitate to say “Yeh dil maange more…”

While sketching a portrait, great amount of emphasis is placed on the symmetry of the face. There is one school of thought which even says “the face is never symmetrical” (though sketchers take this liberty of making it symmetrical). But with Aishwarya Rai, these sketchers need not feel guilty of violating any principles. They can draw one half of the face, and the other half would be an exact replica of that. Setting turf on Bollywood, came to her as a matter-of-fact on a red carpet. Starting amidst muses & skepticism, She has traversed great lengths in delivering stellar lead performances, and capping them with The Best Actress Awards. Aaaiiiissshhh…Man Dola re Dola re Dola re Dola…

Just ask an artist to put the best expressive eyes with soft thin eye lashes, nice curvaceous lips with a 32 teeth smile, long mane, neatly portioned in the centre (symmetry here too) – in short ask him to make a PICTURE PERFECT, using whatever artistic license he wants to deploy. The outcome would be Sonali Bendre. Im also recommending a case to ISO to frame her smile as the Standard for the definition of Million Dollar Smile. She is a true ARTIST Delight face. On the bollywood front, she hasn’t made any remarkable inroads, not a graceful dancer, and also not known for any exceptional (you may remove this word too) acting skills. But then! Isnt this review supposed to be about beautiful faces.

Sonali ab tu hi bata.. Is deewane ladke ko Kaise samjaye…

The DROOL DROOL Beauties

Where there is oozing beauty, there got to be drool. And Bollywood had its share of women over whom I went drool drool drool. I wont go into describing what made me drool (I leave it to your intelligence and tastes). After all, how much more honest can I get here!!

5. Helen – The most gorgeous cabaret dancer, could wear any outfit & still not look vulgar. I just gonna drool Mehbooba Mehbooba

4. Isha Koppikar – The contemporary Helen in the making. Very confident even while dancing in a rampage crowd (read more droolers), she definitely is C(Kha)lass.

3. Dimple Kapadia – Why does God make such beautiful women? She gave me a tough time while I was preparing for my X std exams when Sagaar got released. (Yeah!! Drool drool I went at that tender age too). Every time I see her, Dil Drool Drool Kare…Gabraye!!

2. Sarika– A dream combination of Innocence, Charm & Sexiness, produced a rare Sarika. Geet gata chal .. o Sarika.. Gungunata Chal...

1. Moon Moon Sen – I never believed when some one gave me the concept of “Bengali beauties”. I had dismissed & forgotten about it completely, till I saw Moon Moon Sen. When your name already has a “Moon” (metaphor for beauty), adding one more “Moon” puts the drool factor. The very thought of Moon Moon Sen, gives me a hangover !!

Quick let me move off to the next section ....

BEAUTIES WITH PERSONALITY (Only 4 Nominations here)

When the external beauty is very well complemented with an element of aura (Internal), which typically characterizes the person, it only further amplifies the perceived beauty. This combination of Beauty and striking aura, results in Pure Magic for the true connoisseur.

4. Sharmila Tagore:An aura of true “feminism” – delicate, beautiful, posh. If a Goddesses image were to be conceived, my choice - pick Sharmila as the model.

3. Zeenat Aman: She would have possibly made it to the “Drool” category, but then her aura of sophistication was well ahead of her times, & she bags a spot in this coveted list. She could have been India’s answer to a Bond Girl in her hey days. (Psst.. Actually even now, arent the Bonds too growing older!!)

2. Sushmita Sen: A stunner who has this aura of “no-nonsense attitude”. One of the few ladies in contemporary cinema whom I respect, because of noble act of adopting a child and proving that Ms Universes can really be Ma Theresa if they want to. She should be officially designated as a Role Model for many of these aspiring “Look beautiful-shed clothes-run around trees-drench in waterfall” glamour stuck bollywood aspirants.

1. Beauty refuses to bow down to time, to age,

Grace has sought permanent shelter in her Gaze

Neither a wrinkle nor a grey hair, could

Take her away from the realms of looking good.

That’s Beauty, Spruced with tons of grace,

That’s Simi – Against her, Even time doesn’t Race.

Simi Garewal, the true personification of “Feminism” or “Beauty n Grace”. The only one with whom I would like to have a Rendezvous with. The rest can be drawn or drooled or can be admired. But Simi is a spotless beauty to me.
