I'm a fish out of water here. I dont sing that many hindi songs and I certainly dont have romance in my blood. I'm still going to run through the hindi song files stored in my cerebellum(or is it the medula oblongata? hypothalamus?). my cerebrum isnt working all that well these days so please forgive the errors in biology.
Yes. I will pick five hindi songs because of one piece of advice that my grandfather never gave me.'nothing ventured, nothing gained'(he should have. too bad he isnt going to get another chance to have told me that).
Heres the five:
-
Mere Sang Sang Aaya Teri Yaadon Ka Mela - from Rajput
Picture Rajesh Khanna on a horse dressed up like a nobleman of a time gone by(ok. thats enough to make someone give up Romance). Now visualize the BEAUTIFUL Hema Malini in her youthful best decked in finery(now that can bring back that Romance you lost while visualizing Rajesh Khanna). and then you have this song.
The ex-superstar, with crinkling eyes and the magical voice of Kishore to back him, lip synched.
Akela gaya tha mein. haan mein
na aaya akela.
Mere Sang Sang Aaya Teri Yaadon Ka Mela
Well. the song worked for him. He did get Hema Malini in the end(Hema Malini didnt get what she want though because she was in love with Dharmendra in the movie and Dharmendra ended up playing a harp on a cloud). Which goes to prove that every love has some tragedy involved somewhere.
(maybe I do have a warped sense of Romance)
O Saathi Re. Tere Bina Bhi Kya Jeena from Muqaddar Ka Sikander
The song is pretty melancholic and the picturization can tug one's heart but the song's intent is crystal clear. Another song sung by that legendary man - Kishore Kumar.
Wouldnt sing this as a'I'm going to brighten up your day with my singing' song. Its more of a'we're in the mood for some blues' kind of song.
Har dhadkan mein pyaas hai teri
saanson mein teri khushboo hai
is dharti se us ambar tak
meri nazar mein tu hi tu hai
pyaar ye toote Na, tu mujhse roote na
saath ye chhoote habhi na
tere bina bhi kya jeena O Saathi Re.
Love songs can be a bit too depressing at times, cant they?
now here's one I can sing more often because I tend to get on her wrong side all the time.
Rooth na Jaana tumse kahoon to. from 1942 - a love story
Handy song. nice movie. Anil Kapoor looked cool in that beret. or was it a hat? Cant remember! R D Burman lives on.
Rooth na jaana tumse kahoon to
Main in aankhon mein jo rahoon to
Tum ye jaano ya na jaano
Tum ye maano ya na maano
Mere jaisa deewana tum paaoge nahin
Too bad, when I sing it, it sounds more like frogs during mating season. Which kind of ticks her off even more.
Hum Dono Do Premee fromAjnabi
To be honest I dont remember the whole bunch of lyrics to this song but the melody rocks. Its a beautiful love song. That lucky man Rajesh Khanna and Zeenat Aman(rats. I wished it was Mumtaz) on a train(if my memory serves me right. which it never does). RD Burman, Kishore. boy. those were good times.
Hum Dono Do Premee Duniya Chod Chale
Jeevan Ki Hum Saare.
heh. cant remember.
(which means technically I cant sing this song to my beloved. but I'll manage by humming the whole thing. after all. its HUM tum ek kamre mein bandh ho. HUM hain rahi pyaar ke. HUM this. HUM that.)
and when I'm in the mood.(muhahahahahahah)
Kaate nahin Katthe Yeh Din Yeh Raat from Mr. India
Remember Mr. India? Remember Sri Devi in a saree? Remember the rain? Remember the sensuality?
Now that I remember all this. I forgot the lyrics of the song.
~finis~
PS: Can someone request 5 NON-LOVE(hate is a strong word) songs now? I need to balance this.
