Sometimes people give favour to a thing which is simply not understandable and in movies this case is more than one can think of. I will try to give solid reasons for some of the movies which never deserve to be hit but due to enormous public support they were declared as hit.
- Ruling my charts is Mohabbatain. Why was the movie so hot because Aditya Chopra was coming back as director after 5 years gap and his last movie is acclaimed as the best movie of Hindi Cinema. People went and watched the movie with houseful boards in cinemas for a week but then what happened when people came to know that its only the publicity nothing inside they rejected the movie. Yash Chopra is a wise person he took the charge of publicity campaign and firstly announced it a hit in press and later with the help of SaReGaMa HMV he released the Audio with the dialogues. Music was a Hit already so people thought it must be something unusual as a minute cassette in same price is release. The thing worked for him and business of the movie witnessed heavy increase and at box-office the movie was declared a hit. If you ask 500 people about this movie the answer would be the same AWFUL
-- Same year release is the runners-up Kaho Naa Pyar Hai. Hrithik is the man introduced in this movie. He is perfect in it. When we see the story it is simply not understandable that how the 2nd Hrithik in placed in the movie. The patch of long jump by Guddu G was not satisfying. Similarly the dreadful acting by Amisha Patel was the weak link of the movie. How people accepted that movie. I remember my friends made a programme to watch the movie for the case that one of our friends had seen the movie and he loved Hrithik Stunts and Body so he want to show us that. That took us to the Cinema and I promisely say that we were bored and decided to quit at interval but our that friend say wait the stunts are to come after interval. That was the only bonding factor with which we watched the movie as a whole. I would say that is a movie wrapped in a golden wrapper but it just glitters inside its not gold.
--- Third in the list is Murder.Last year we witnessed that the film got a great response despite the fact that it was speculated before its release that it is a ditto of a Hollywood flick. Malika Sherawat only knows how to put off dress in a sexy way nothing about acting. Moreover the music was a super duper hit and all songs were lifted from neighbouring countries. Till the release of Veer-Zaara this movie was said as the only hit of the year and that is a very look able fact. Actually this was the most boring stuff of that year and dosent even deserved to be watched but declared as hit that is more AWFUL
---- Forth movie is Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. Balaji Telefilms comes up with this movie by having Tushar Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor giving their worst performances. The movie was promoted from every angle. Those days you watch any Star Plus serial by Balaji Telefilms that was promoting this movie and Humari Janata. Innocent people thought that this movie would be good so it is promoted in this manner and went and watched the movie. Same like Mohabbatain no one whom do I know liked this movie but trade report says that his movie is a hit.
P.S : People are grown up now and the latest Balaji movie Koi Aap Sa is among the disasters of 2005 though they have made exclusive publicity in the same manner as they have done for MKKH but not found fate.
----- Fifth is Gadar-Ek Prem Katha. Baseless story is the spirit of this movie. Partition Times venture in which a Moslem Girl found a Sikh Truck driver to get married due to curious situation she faced during the partition. The movie was responded well because of Sunny and the across border story. Those days any bashing was appreciated on both sides of borders and from my sources I got a news that across the border the same movie with reverse characters was filmed and was given the same response as here Gadar got. I found no reason to cheer about this movie.
