Wonders of the world. Review on Five Hindi Films Which Did Not Deserve To Be Hits

Even the leading trade analysts often fail to formulate concrete criterion for the success & failures of the market products. But some of our bollywood film directors seem to have surpassed them. Whatever the quality be, their movies are bound to be hit.

I sincerely feel that had they changed their profession to market consultants, it would have been a great justice not only to the markets, but also to the movie goers like us! Not that all of them or all their movies are bad, but you will have a hard time in searching for the good ones.

Here goes my list of six such movies which I think should have ended up in dustbin , but have done quite the opposite:

1.Karan Arjun:After seeing this movie, I swore that I would never watch another Srk-salman starrer & is yet to break that promise. The movie was totally based on fantasy, but that's not the main problem with it. Fantasy often makes good movies, we have an example at hand with shekhar kapoor's Mr. India. But here the midas touch of the ''great'' director Mr. Rakesh Roshan successfully turned it into one of the most crap films ever made. Excessive violance, melodrama & the bogus plot perhaps facilitated its box office ride, I wonder why.

2. Dil To Pagal Hai: Yash Chopra needs many things to make a successful movie, except a story. How? that question you should ask the indian movie goers, I don't know. A film where Srk continues uttering maya without any reason, karishma starts throwing pebbles towards God in the sky, Akshay kumar appears at the back stage suddenly with a tape recorder in hand, & a film which can boast of having the most stupid climax ever seen in the history of movies went on to be one of the greatest grossers. Also I can't make out how on the hell did karishma end up getting so many awards for this movie. Urmila was much better than her in Judaai.

3.Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge:Sorry SRK fans, but I can't help including this one. Srk hammed at his life's best in this movie & the less said about the others, the better. I wonder how such a sugary melodramatic movie with continuous chain of unrealistic impractical happenings, & with such distasteful conversations between father & son(srk & anupam) can get so much applause from a major section of movie viewers. May be I have a problem with my own taste.

4.Mohabbatein:Need I say anything about this movie? I think not! Enough has been written & commented in this forum about this goddamn movie . Only one thing I would like to add is that, music teachers like these are enough to destroy the ethics of any educational institution.

5.Raja Hindusthani:I wonder how the ever reliable Aamir Khan signed a crap movie like this. Even surprising is, how this movie managed to get an audience! Popularly known for one of the best performances of karishma( I found nothing special) , this movie had absolutely no plus points except good acting by aamir( which he always does) & one good song. The storyline? .....forget it!

And ... here comes the greatest of my choices......

6.Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gam:Ah! This johar classic( or should I say circus?) can boast of having a storyline almost as new as the egyptian pyramids , & a stellar star cast which can send shivers down the spine of any competing producer. But what johar managed to do with all these? The result is in front of us. Srk hammed incessantly, hrithik's appearance was awesome, but he was dumb in acting. Many people praised kajol's acting, (I wonder why) but it was jaya bachchan who was the only one watchable in this movie.The melodrama (esp. the crying scene of Srk) was simply disgusting.

Some ''honourable'' movies which I would desperately like to include are Pardes, Dil , Ishq and there are countless other salman &govinda starrers. But I think these six mentioned are enough to cost everyone a heavy dosage of aspirin.
