Kavita: The most unique voice of the present times

I think Kavita Krishnamurthy has eveoved over the decades of singing that she has been doing. I enjoyed her initially in'Karma'(Dil diya hai Jaan bhi denge) and'Pyar Jhuktha Nahi'(Tumse milke Na jaane kyon), etc. She sounded perfect in songs sung for Sridevi in Nagina, Mr. India, Chaalbaaz and Khuda Gawah. She has a voice that does not suit every regular lead actress(the kind Alka Yagnik  has), but as someone wrote earlier, has a unique quality of singing most kinds of songs very beautifully: fun songs, classical-based ones, regular run-of-the-mill numbers, etc. It is really difficult to pick my favorite Kavita songs, because every now and then, I hear some song she has sung, and at present, I do not remember each and every of those.

  1. Nimbooda(HDDCS)

  2. Aaj Mein Upar(Khamoshi)

  3. Maar Daala(Devdas)

  4. Ishq Bina(Part 2)(Taal)

  5. Main Vari Vari(Mangal Pandey)

Of course, I also love songs from 1942: A Love Story, Gupt, Vaastav, Zubeida, Rangeela, Bombay and so many others. I agree that she has been the most under-rated and under-used singers in today's films. At the same time, I totally beleive that she is one of the most humble and non-manipulatiev persons, unlike many in the industry. I respect her a lot and wish she would do even better work in the future.
