Hello friends Kavita Krishnamurthy, is one of the prominent singers in contemporary music Industry. Though new singers are coming but hardly anyone has been able to match her. Her grasp over sur and taal reminds me of the very talented Anuradha Paudwal and I feel proud to say that today she has left even Anuradha behind. She is the choice of all major and sensitive music directors. Of lately she is not singing much, as she is too choosy, but whenever she sings she enthralls the listeners. I’m writing this piece just to see her 5 best songs till now.

Though no singer can pin point any song to be utmost favorite since they sing all the songs with equal efficiency. It is like asking any mother who is your favorite child in all your kids.

Kavitha, as the name suggests, has a voice that you can associate with. It touches your senses and all of a sudden you are diving into the seas of music.

Song: -Hawa Hawai

Movie: - Mr. India

Picturised on: - Sri Devi

Though she sang quite a number of songs before this one, but it was HAWA HAWAI that truly established her in Indian film Industry. After this song, instantly, she became the choice of all top directors.  Last time when her interview was aired on DOORDARSHAN I heard her saying that though the song was simple, it became one of the chartbusters then. We could hear everyone singing this song, and this song played an important role in the success of the movie. The songstress even admitted that she never even imagined that this song would be such a big hit.

The beginning of the song marks dawn of the magic of the singer. It’s a pity that Filmfare didn’t happen that year otherwise she would have won her first filmfare

With this song, that is her favorite.

Song: -Mera piya ghar aaya

Movie: - Yaraana

Picturised on: - Madhuri Dixit

This song got her Filmfare award. And when I compare Hawa hawai with this song I find lots of similarities. Both the songs had mischievous theme and both make you rock and roll. But the songs have fast music and both the songs picturised on then Top actresses.

Anyway, mera piya ghar aaya didn’t contribute to the success of the movie as the movie was a big flop and there it defines the ability of the singer. Most of the time it’s seen that songs of hit movies begs Filmfare but in this case it was purely on the talent of the singer and music.

Unlike hawa hawai, this time she was sure of the success of the song. Though song had bit folk touch, she carried the song in the best way. And this song also became the ultimate choice of the listeners. I still remember that time I was in school and I could hear this song in most of the dance competitions.

Song: - Nimbuda nimbuda

Movie: - Hum dil de chuke sanam

Picturised on: - Aishwarya Rai

Once again the actress hits the bull’s eye with her folk song, nimbuda. The movie was the biggest hit of the year, with the music given by Ismail Darbar. Her voice suits folk, but that doesn’t mean that she is not a good choice for western or non-folk. Hear her song hawa hawai and you’ll know. She is very versatile and the people who are hear her once want to listen her again and again. Her voice is sweet but not overdoing it.

Anyway, in this song she brings the sweetness of love with beautifully wrapped with some black shadows. Anyway songs of this movie are the best but this one makes the worst of dancer to take few steps and try to imitate Saroj’s steps. But they are too tough and classic for a \n amateur to copy!

The song is simply a lyrical ballad.

Song: -Dhol bajne laga

Movie: -Virasat

Picturised on: -Tabbu

Another folk based song but see the diversity, you can’t say that nimbuda or dhol bajne laga are anyway same. This is where the talent of an artist lies, though the masters in this technique had been just very few but it’s nice to see someone from your generation to sing so well and with such diversity.

She makes you dance and the lyrics of the song are also too good. Just like nimbuda, you can find nazakat and nafakat in her voice. She shows you nakhra and at the same time the vulnerability of a woman. She simply finds pace with the music director and gives you some exotic numbers.

Song: - Dola re

Movie: -Devdas

Picturised on: -Aishwarya and Madhuri

This is my ultimate favorite, though here she shares platform with Shreya Ghosal who is equally talented but see even then she stands out. She simply drives you crazy with her exotic voice. She has great hold on rhythm and every chord of music tends to touch you. She simply makes your heart go hmmm.

This is another fast number, and you can see Ekta Kapoor’s daily soaps and some time around Diwali and Duirga Puja you can see her playing this song again and again.
