The spring breeze brings forth myriad blossoms...

The first time I hear Shaan crooning?Loveology?, I did not really take him seriously. I thought? Here?s another Indipop singer who will disappear soon.? I could never imagine him as a playback singer in movies? simply because his voice sounded too yuppy and cocky for a Bollywood hero.

In Bollywood, we have them romantic, deep and bass. I guess, I underestimated the winds of change that were to sweep Bollywood in terms of direction, themes and even music in the next few years. Now we have an entirely new breed of film directors, music directors and singers who are *?doing things their way? *and not *?doing things the way they had been done?. *So, Shaan is here to stay!

Main aisa kyon hoon? Lakshya *(Happy-go-lucky)

-

Just imagine what this song would have been like if Udit Narayan or Kumar Sanu (Noooo!) *would have lent their prim and propah voices to it! This song is aboutattitude, about individuality and eccentricity **and it?s Shaan?s show all the way. I love the way he throws?Hoga jaane mera ab kya? at you with careless abandon. It?s the kind of a song which you sing about walking on a sunny day, aimlessly, whistling out-of-tune?.

Ishq mein pyaar mein - Hulchul *(Fun and Joy)

-

This is a total riot? It simply gets my feet tapping. It starts softly but watch out as the pace picks up. Strangely, it appears that very few people like this song and I am among the minority(Yikes! Main aisa kyon hoon?). But public opinion apart, it?s one of my favorite since it never fails to lift my spirits. Shaan sounds like he is really having fun singing this songand frankly, so much zest is infectious.

Kuch na kaho?Kuch na kaho *(Romantic puppy love)

-

It starts with soft whistling which sets the dreamy mood right away. Soft, feminine, trembling vocals of Sadhana Sargam paired up with the mucho macho voice of Shaan and it?s perfect yin-yang. The song is about falling in love, dreaming, proposals? everything that?s pink, soft and Valentine-like.Guys who are allergic to mush, kindly stay away from this one. For the rest, it?s literally a walk in the clouds- the lyrics and vocal are that breezy.

Aksar? Aksar *(Questions, questions)

-

Well, the literal meaning of this word is?often?. The mood is somber as the mind is often filled with questions that have to be answered -What does the person mean to me? Is s/he just an unnecessary, old chapter in my life that should be closed? What does his/her presence in my life signify, anyway?.The song attempts to unravel all the doubts in a lover?s mind and then dissolve into the quiet realization of true lovethat begins after all the initial excitement and attraction has cooled down. Soft and sentimental. Not your usual?anytime? song? only when you are in blues.

Suno na? Jhankaar beats *(Calm and mellow)

-

I fell in love with this song in my dreams. Literally. The first time I heard it was I was trying to awaken from very deep sleep, dreaming about lush green trees.(Yeah, I dream about green trees all the time, since I live in a concrete, urban jungle called Delhi). About the same time, someone was playing this song in the next room. As Shaan?s soft, mellow voice filtered into my consciousness, I wondered? who is singing this unbelievably beautiful song? It?s absolutely mesmerizing? the quietness and calmness that pervades the soulafter listening to this one has to be experienced to believe.
