Alka Yagnik is the Queen Bee of Hindi female playback singers in the Hindi music industry today. Her versatile voice and sweetness match every type of song that is assigned to her in the music industry. The"Ek Do Teen" lady had hits after hits, and there wasn't anything that could be done about it; her voice was just fabulous and retained that sweetness and zest. Singers such asAnuradha Paudwal (who was involved in the infamous dubbing of Alka Yagnik's songs in the movie "Dil"),Kavita Krishnamurty and Sadhna Sargam were struggling to hop onto the band wagon, where as Alka Yagnik did it sensationally and effortlessly. There wasn't any singer who could even compete with her-and even if there was, then that singer never usually lasted very long. Alka yagnik has sung well over 12, 000 songs, with almost all of them being hits. She has had some songs which have failed to gain any glamour, but which artist hasn't? She has earned critical aclaim from not only indian personalities, but from personalities from all over the world who mark her as the next Lata Mangeshkar.

With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Alka is sure to maintain her threshold on the music industry, in spite of the entrance of the next successful newcomers, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghosal,Shweta Pandit and more. Additionally, Alka Yagnik suits almost all of the heroines in Bollywood, where many actresses have requested her to sing for them. Alka Yagnik is personally my favorite Hindi Artist, and I can't even imagine not having her around in our music industry! Many people have asserted that she is over-used in the industry, supressing newcomers from the opportunity to sing; however, I disgaree. Alka Yagnik is the number one choice for music directors today, since her established singing capabilities and reliability are never a concern. If she is supposedly "over-used" it is because of those reasons. No other artist as yet has been able to walk alongside Alka Yagnik in the industry, and i'm sure there never will be. Every time I hear her songs on the radio or on my favorite cds, I can't help but lipsync her; I must admit that her voice also suits me really well!

My favorite songs of Alka Yagnik include:

*1. Badi Mushkil- Film: Lajja

"Badi mushkil baba badi muskhil.gore gore gaalhon pe hai kala kala til-ha-ah!"

*She sang this song amazingly with a combination of sweetness, mischeviousness, and playfulness in her voice. She should have been given a filmfare award for this song, but I guess she wasn't, since the movie was not so successful.

2. Dayya Dayya Dayya Re-Dil ka rishta

*"Dayya dayya dayya re-oh dayya dayya dayya re-ashiq mere mehne tujse pyar kiya hai."

*She modified her voice successfully in this song to fit the high pitched music. Her voice was fabulous and it matched Aishwarya's personality in the movie.

*3. Subah Hui, Din Nikhal Raha Hai-Woh tera naam tha

"Subah hui, din nikhal raha hai-nadi ke khart par nahakeh suraj-sunehrey kaparey badal raha hai."

*This song was so enchanting and inspiring to me that I kept repeating it everytime it started playing. Alka sings beautifully in this song and her versitality is just amazing. Her vocals matched the song entirely and she rendered this piece with ease. The last part in the song where she renders the "sa re ma pa da da da." makes me think that she should have been given more classical pieces than Kavita Krishnamurty to sing, as she is able to render the lines competently.

4. Sajan Ghar Challi Re-Woh tera naam tha

*"Sajan ghar challi re, sajan challi re hai hai hai oh mishri de dhali re-sajan ghar challi re."

*Alka Yagnik shared this song with Richa Sharma and it was the best fast-paced and sultry wedding songs I have ever heard. Alka does an incredible job rendering her lines in the song and I must also give credit to Richa Sharma for her husky and masti-full voice. Both pair up well for this song, which makes it a hit in my books. I've actually danced to this song, and couldn't help but bag Alka's voice for lipsyncing!

5. Piya ka ghar-Piya ka ghar Hindi serial title song

"Sona na chand dehna, Taj Mahal.mujhe chaihiye meetey, meetey woh paal.mere piya ka-piya ka ghar."

None other than Alka Yagnk could sing this title song from one of Zee Tv's most popular serials, "Piya ka ghar". She rendered the lines so sweetly, that even Shreya Ghoshal's Saat Phere gig can't even compare. This is my favorite Hindi serial song and I always play it just because I love hearing Alka's voice.

I could list more songs than this, but it would be hard since so many of Alka's songs are my favorites. These are my top five choices and always will be! Continue to do well, Alka, in your career as a inspiring, sensational, and epic singer in our music industry!
