The Commercial Broadcasting Service of India

The All India Radio has been the oldest mode of communications in the country apart from the innumerable educative and entertaining programs broadcast.  I think for generations they have been bringing about such beautiful programs, which still claim a lot of appreciation from the general public.

The entertainment world usurping all time on radio, most educative programs have taken a back seat. Of course, this is just an opinion, sincerely don't mean we don't need entertainment.  But I guess most of you would agree with me that you need the right blend of education and entertainment to make life interesting.

Some of the entertainment programs on the commercial broadcasting service of the AIR still are extremely popular among the public simply because of the way they are conducted. Not that they are forgotten and gone, but would like to list them in case they have slipped out of your mind.

Morning Bhakti Ranjini -  The program is as short as only two or maximum three songs is so good that you would find very old singers and songs long forgotten broadcast at that time.  I am for sure most songs on these programs have become archival as no one would sing them these days and so definitely they wouldn’t be available on CDs or cassettes.

Morning Sangeet Sarita -   This is a program which is being broadcast between 730 am and 740 am since donkeys years.  I guess one program that is loved by classical music fans.  Basically, classical songs from the film world with details of the raga and how it was set to music and by whom.  Sometimes they throw light on the details of the raga too.

Manchaahe Geet  -   In the afternoon another program definitely being broadcast from donkeys years and still has a lot of popularity.  You find several names being read from different parts of the country asking for the song.

Manoranjan -   Another program that broadcasts a mixture of old and new songs.

Chaaya Geet  -   This is one program which is popular even now only for the way it is being conducted.  With all the sheron shaayari, it makes the whole time very romantic.  The choice of songs also makes a lot of difference and also the choice of people conducting it, I guess.

The present day FM’s are also quite good with the intermediate joke times and informative issues broadcast, I think these AIR programs still carry the old charm.  Sometimes one would still feel a sort of special attachment toward them.

Do listen when you can.
