ThE MovieS oF SrK I LikeD~. Review on Five Best Movies of Shah Rukh Khan

I included Devdas in my recent rvu on 10 worst Hindi movies and I got comments where in inclusion of Devdas was a surprise to many of my ms friends. Well now I am writing an rvu on 5 best acting performances by Shahrukh khan. I would not say that I am a Die-hard fan of SRK but yea he does feature in my favorite actor?s list. The movies I have listed here, in my opinion are the ones in which SRK has really given a great performance. So here?s my list: (Numbering doesn?t say the rating of performances)

1.Darr

Dir: Yash Chopra---(1993)

I would say Darr and Bazzigar were the two of the best things that happened to SRK during his film career. These were the movies which made him popular like never be4. Neways Darr is a violent story of a passionate lover SRK (I forgot his character name) who loves Juhi chawla like hell and wants her at any cost. Even though he knows that Sunny Deol is the love of Juhi but still he wants her at any cost and so he plays a negative character in the movie. Trying to kill sunny and get Juhi is the main act of SRK in this movie. His love for Juhi is easily visible in the scene where he writes his name ?Kiran? on his chest with blood (tomato sauce). Also tum meri ho kkkkkkkkkirannn?.. is good to see. I must say playing a negative role such early in his carreer was really a bold step at that time!! He was well supported by Sunny paaji and Juhi too!!

2.Dilwale Dulhaniya le Jaayenge

Dir: Aditya Chopra---(1995)

This was really an awesome movie and I would say the best movie of SRK till date. He looked quite handsome in this movie. The movie has created record by running in for more than 5 years in a theatre (which was previously held by the gem ?Sholay?). A love story (not a violent one this time) wherein Raj(Shahrukh Khan) is a flirt be4 and gradually falls in love with Simran (Kajol). They both live in London. But Kajol?s dad (Amrish Puri) had already fixed her marriage with his childhood friend Satish Shah?s son so Kajol leaves to India and our hero Raj goes there and then eventually fighting all odds at last wins every1?s hearts. The best song of the movie is Na jaane mere dil ko kya ho gaya??. Gr8 acting performances by Shahrukh Khan and Kajol not to forget SRK?s pop (Anupam Kher) and Amrish puri too. The film also marked the debut of Mandira Bedi (Xtraaaaaa Innings!!) and Parmit Sethi and a guest appearance by Karan Johar too.

3.Baazigar

Dir: Abbas-Mastan---(1993)

Another negative role by SRK and well executed by him this time also after Darr. This movie is based on the revenge that SRK takes on Dalip Tahil becoz he was the one to cause the death of his father & sister in the movie and put her mother through lot of pain. The hard hitting negative character of his visible in the scene when he takes Shilpa Shetty to the top and says ?Mujhe maaf kar dena? and drops her. Songs like Baazigar o baazigar and ye kaali kaali aakhen and dialogues like ?Kabhi Kabhi kuch jeet ne ke liye kuch harna bhi padta hai aur haar kar jeetne vale ko Baazigar kehte hai..? are worth watching.

P.S: I was really confused between KKHH and Baazigar for which one to select but in the end I chose Baazigar becoz of his acting performance was better in Baazigar then in KKHH.

4.Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa

Dir: Kundan Shah---(1993)

This one was another gr8 performance by SRK. Although this film wasn?t as successful as his above mentioned films but then he was quite appreciated in this movie. Playing the role of innocent lover Sunilin the movie who tries to impress his love Anna every now and then and also cheating his dad with a fake marksheet and repenting afterwards is a good watch. His lady love is played by Suchitra Krishnamurthy(Debut) and the thorn in this love life is played by Deepak Tijori(Chris). Actually I would not say Love life becoz Anna doesn?t love him but she loves Chris so at last he realizes this and makes them meet together. He is very well supported by Nasserudein Shah and Goga Kapoor who plays a Don in the movie. Nice flick.

5.Dil se

Dir: Mani Rathnam---(1998)

I wonder how this movie flopped at the box office. It was a great movie. Maybe becoz it dealt with a different type of subject might have done bad for this film. Neways I would not say that this was the best performance of only SRK in this film. Awesome performances by Manisha Koirala and by debutant Preity Zinta made this movie worth a watch. I haven?t seen a film of SRK except this one where he has spoken less. His expressions say it all in this film.

The scene when he tries to go rigid on Manisha and she hits him hard in the stomach is good to watch. Even the interactions with Priety Zinta are worth watching. And yes I have to mention ?Chahiyya Chaiyya song too on the roof of the train!!

He didn?t get an award for this flick which he really deserved in my opinion and director Mani Rathnam did a gr8 job too. The song ?E Ajnabi? is my favorite in this film.

Alrite so this concludes my rvu on SRK?s 5 best acting performances. All these films I have selected are quite old and early in SRK?s career and that is why they were good. But in recent years his acting is repeating, same old crying overacting scenes have become indigestible for me now. That is why I don?t think compared to these performances some of his recent films like K3G, Mohabbatien, KHNH are close enough to be rated as his best performances (they are all bad performances in my opinion!!).
