To pick out the best films of a great actor is a daunting task. Anil Kapoor is one of the very very few actors who can fit into any role anytime. From Dilip kumar to Amitabh Bachchan to Naseruddin Shah to Anupam Kher; he can do all the roles that these different actors fit into; that is why he is such a special actor. My list of his best five would be:
Eeshwar. Only Anil Kapoor and Kamal Haasan are the two actors who could have performed this role in India, no one else would be convincing. I would request all who read this to see the movie, only then can one realise Anil's acting abilities.
Mashaal. This one makes to the list because he could stand up against the thespian and hold his forte; a thing that no actor had been successful at. Even Amitabh in Shakti looked very mediocre when compared to Dilip saab, but in Mashall, Anil Kapoor matched Dilip kumar in every frame. Really Amazing.
Karma. In a film packed with stars and also Dilip Kumar and the classy Naserruddin Shah, Anil Kapoor was the highlight of the film. Though the whole film is a superb entertainer, Anil Kapoor became etched in the memory of moviegoers.
Biwi No. 1. Only a class actor of the caliber of Anil Kapoor could have done it. Salman was the hero of the movie and Karisma the heroine, but it took one Mr. Anil Kapoor for Biwi No 1. to be a success. Without him the film would have fallen flat. Come on audience, wake up and acknowledge the truth.
Trimurti. I know people will not agree with this film being in the list. It bombed at the box office; but if only the film was half as good as Anil Kapoor was in it, Trimurti would have been a record breaking movie; and if Trimurti would have been a success then Mr. Bachchan would never regained his lost throne ever.
Films like Tezaab, Ram Lakhan, My Wife's Murder, Woh Saat Din, Viraasat, Pukar, Parinda, 1942 A Love Story, Yudh, are few of his other films which comes into one's mind. These films show that Shahrukh Khans, Salman Khans, Abhishek Bachchans, and Hrithik Roshans will come and go but Anil Kapoor will remain forever. Great going Anil Saab.
