Jogi - A feel that never ends

We had been to Jogi on Saturday, 27th August at EESHWARI theatre, Kathriguppe for the 2.30 Show.

The tickets were distributed as early as 12.45PM. By 1.30PM, the tickets were sold out. The black tickets were also sellling hot at Rs.70/-

Looking at the type of crowd I was amazed since it was not only the college youth that had gathered, but a whole lot of family men including auntys, gals in tight jeans, many young couples and even ajjis ;-)

I thought to myself, Jogi hasn't spared anybody.

I shall begin my review by saying that I am proud to have watched JOGI, the phenomena, which has broken all the previous box office records of kannada and a part of JOGI JAATHRE.

While coming out from the theatre, I could just say that Prem has selected the perfect caption for the movie, 'A feel that never ends..'..

The frame of Jogi Shivu sleeping on the laps of Jennifer keeps etched on your memory.. And, also one of the character in the movie says, 'Lo maga, Jogi thaayigoskara long ettiddu kaNo, avnanna hodyOdu bEda..'.. What a climax and what a dialogue to round off the movie.. Superb..

The first half an hour of the movie depicting the Jogi's previous life is simply awsome. The scenes involving Ramesh Bhat, Shivraj and Arundathi have been picturised superbly. And, who can forget that dance of Shivu and Arundathi together? That's the main highlight of the movie.

And, the last half an hour leading upto the climax will shook you out of your seat for the series of events which will make even the most stone hearted fellow to break into tears. The song 'bEduvanu varavannu kode thaayi janmanvanu' which comes during this period will make the audience's feelings to reach the zenith.

Although there are many chasing and fights with longs, I immensly liked two fights with long. One when the innocent Jogi with bangle for his mother goes to serve Coffee for the underworld rowdies and gets into altercation and then a fight with them. This is my favourite fight in the movie.

The two songs that I liked the most were

  1. Ello Jogappa nin aramaane.. I don't have to say anything about this song and it's picturisation as everybody have poured in heaps of praise including Rajinikanth.

  2. But, my personal favourite song in the movie is the entry song of shivu picturised on the maadeshwara betta. 'yELu male maadeva..'. I was really thriled at this song because of the natural way it has been picturised. Shivu's has danced very well. Animations in this song has come out very well. This is my personal best song in Jogi after watching the movie.

Since you will be having the hype and hoopla that has surrounded Jogi in your mind while watching the movie, you may find some of the proceedings to be very dull or ordinary. But, the real effect of Jogi starts catching upon you when you actually come out of the movie and starts indulging in your daily proceedings. That's when the feel that never ends engulfs you. The relation between Shivu and Arundathi is what makes you think more and more about jogi. The film which might seem above average when you leave the theatre will start growing on you and that's when you start getting the feeling that JOGI is an extra ordinary movie.

Some of the other positive points of the movie

1) Along with the fantastic music, the background score by Guru is supreme. 'hodyo ley'... 'jogi, jogi, jogi ..', 'hodi maga hodi maga..'have been used to telling effect in the background score.

2) The Mandya Kannada has been used to terrific extent.

3) Though Jennifer's role seem a bit out of place initially, towards the end, it becomes serious and has been blended well in the story.

Coming to the Negative aspects of the movie

1) It's a bit lengthy. Easily 20 minutes could've been edited to make it more gripping

2) Re recording at some points is pathetic and we wouldn't be able to hear the conversations very properly.

3) Sometimes the movie seems to be over crowded with characters

4) Violence sometimes seem to have crossed limits.

5) Bin Laden song a complete waste

Don't miss it.. Jogi, A feel that never ends..
