- I don’t need too much of an inspiration to climb high mountains or swim crocodile infested rivers. My determination to do these tasks ensures that I complete them successfully. What I truly need inspiration for; is to keep ennui at bay while doing the daily mundane chores. Boredom leads to slipshod results and I do not like to have the word mediocre associated with anything I do.

I have Confidence in Confidence
Naa munh chhupaa ke jio, aaur naa sar zukaa ke jio
gamon kaa daur bhee aaye to muskuraa ke jio
Film: Humraaz; Singer: Mahendra Kapoor Music : Ravi
This song I hum to myself every time my baser survival instinct tells me to bury my head in the sand and avoid the unpleasantness in any situation .This song always straightens my spine up to speak out against anything which I see or feel is wrong. No matter who the instigator of the wrong is.
Roll on Highway.
Sometimes when worries weigh me down and I want to chuck it all up half way down the lane this song ensures that I don’t give up .It gives me the impetus to carry on right to the finish line, even if I am the last person crossing. The satisfaction is in knowing you finished what you started.
Ruk jaana nahi tu kahi haar ke
Kanton pe chalke milenge saye bahar ke
Film: Imtihaan; Singer: Kishore Kumar Music : Laxmikant Pyarelal
Oh Lonesome me
Often, after having stood in the blazing sun for ages awaiting a friend, you call them, only to hear something like “* so sorry, but my dog has a severe bout of colic. There was no time to even call you to cancel.*At those times I sincerely thank God for this song.
Chal akela chal akela chal akela
Tera mela peecha choota rahi chal akela
Film: Sambandh; Singer: Mukesh Music : O.P.Nayyar
You’ve got to know when to hold, know when to fold up…
How often has the fear of failing stopped you from trying out something new? After having missed unteem opportunities because of my cowardice one fine day taking heart from this song I decided “No More”. If I fall flat on my face, so be it; at least I will have the satisfaction of knowing that I tried.
Tadbeer se bigdi hui taqdeer banaa le,
apne pe bharosa hai to yeh daanv laga le.
Film: Baazi Singer: Geeta Dutt Music : S.D. Burman
I’ll be there for you
These words were penned by my French teacher in my autograph book and I’ve always tried to live up to them.
I went out to find a friend
I couldn’t find one anywhere
When I went out to be a friend,
friends were everywhere
I think I have succeeded to some extent in being true to these words because whenever I’ve needed help I’ve never had to ask my “true friends”. Like the Rock of Gibraltar they have always been there behind me 200%.
Yaari hai imaan mera yaar meri zindagi
Yaar ho bando se ye . . . oh
Yaar ho bando se ye sabse badi hai bandagi
Yaari hai!
Film: Zanjeer; Singer: Manna Dey Music: Kalyanji Anandji.
I would like to end with one of the most inspirational passages that I have read.I hope it inspires all of you to reach for the stars too.
'I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.'
