There are some actors whose actions touch you and succeed to connect with a part within and inspire the best in you, or make you cry or make you happy or shake a part of you and you dont remember for some days why you are so different.....

My favourite actors are not those who have done good in so  many films, but they are those ones who come once in a while and just make you go on thinking, and you never forget them for their characters or their performances again......

There are hundreds of movies dipping out every year of hollywood. So the person who requested this can't be kidding, get serious folks!!!.... whoever comes with ideas of limiting the best - to numbers like 5 or 10 and so on must be a real short sighted person.

Anyways still rules should be observed

( I do break them most of the times but I have become good now ;) atleast for the time being )

so here goes

1)

Ben Kingsley

hmmm the movie GANDHI was a life changing movie,

infact the mahatma was himself a life changing person, a character so difficult to play, so strong, so determined, so simple and yet so rock solid!

Playing a thin 43.5 kgs man who shook an Empire and waved them good bye in a very polite manner would have been the toughest thing to do, but who we have here??

enter ben kingsley and you forget he is ben kingsely, , , infact so much was his incorporation into his character that I will never see any other actor like him playing so lively a role like he did.. Both him and mahatma changed a part of me and the encounter is remembered with grateful memories....

Also do watch  his House of Sand and fog - its a movie wonderful for its story and its villain Ben Kingsley

2)

Russel Crowe

an intense actor, who plays all the roles he does without making us think he is the actor and not a character, thats just one thing in common with all good actors, they got to become the characters they play you forget russel crowe and remember the gladiator, or you dont even remember the character, you remember his beautiful mind and its draw backs and how those voices and people haunted him!! It was great direction, but great directions need great actors otherwise all is wasted..

3)

Morgan Freeman

there are some voices you never forget, and his hard, heavy, thick, certain voice is amongst one of them. And when he looks at you in the eyes (  he never does, he looks at the camera or the co-actor:D ) you simply have to listen to what he has to say, , , , , , , ,

without the narrator - the shawshank redemption wouldnt have been such a super duper movie, , woww , here is an actor who speaks his heart out, and though the worthy shawshank redemption didnot get an oscar, million dollar baby did get one!! and guess who was the narrator here, , , no second guesses....

4)

Johnny Depp

Isnt he a cutie pie??? Looks do matter!! so he believes and so he proves, but more than that, he is the one person who brings life to the movie, , Watch him in Pirates of the caribbean and you wont forget his character, you may forget the film, but his pranky, cranky character!! no ways, , , no no no

Watch him in Finding Neverland, and you will know why it was an oscar contender!!! another intense character and another intense actor, , , totally the one opposite to what we saw in pirates, yet he still remains  playful and lively and creative!!!

good looks + great acting = a place in my top 5!!!

5)

Robin Williams

Here is a person whose name enough will bring a smile to your face... Refer to movie Patch Adams or the not as great mrs.doubtfire!, , I love the actor the way he inspires and brings everyone to concentrate on what he is saying..

If patch adams was funny-ish, ......... try watching == Dead Poets' Society == and you will know how seemingly mundane poems and poets can be so inspiring!!

I never loved poems or saw them the way they were before I saw this movie, and then I began to understand why freedom of speech, of mind  and thoughts are most creatively expressed by poems...so sorry to digress, , the movie was too good, but hadnt been possible without O captain my captain

I have left many superb actors, but dont blame me!! Its the person who asked this for a review - huh

That acting is no acting where the actor remains himself, and that character is no character who doesnt become 1 with actor.

Ultimately the world is a stage, we are all the characters. Some if not all of us act daily, pretend somethings, are true to some people and hypocrites to others. Each one is the hero/heroine of the story of his/her life. I hope I succeed someday in dropping all pretense and being myself !!  Easier said then done, , but till then I will allow these fine people to keep inspiring me :))

cheerz
