My 5 list. Review on Five Best HollyWood Comedy Movies

It is quite difficult to short list just 5 movies that I consider the funniest. There are many kind of comedy movies.

Parodies (Hot Shots series, Not Another Teen Movie), Slapstick (Johnny English, Dumb and Dumber, Police Academy series), Romantic (My Best Friend?s Wedding, Notting Hill) , Action (any of Jackie Chan?s movies), Wacky (Blue Streak), etc.

I can give a list of over 30 movies that I find very funny.So to choose just 5 is not fair. But as I have to, I would recommend the following 5.

1. Hot Shots (1 and 2) ? Hot Shots 1 spoofs Top Gun broadly, with other scene spoofs from Rocky, Superman; 9 ½ Weeks, and other movies. The movie follows Topper Harley, a Navy pilot who is part of a team assembled to bomb a secret weapon?s facility of Saddam Hussein.

Hot Shots Part Deux , follows Topper Harley as he is brought out of a self imposed solitary retirement to lead a rescue team against Saddam. This movie spoofs Rambo 3 to a large extent. But watch out for scene spoofs from Cliffhanger, Casablanca, Apocalypse Now, Commando, Basic Instinct, Star Wars, Terminator 2 and many more.

As a special treat, there is an ensamble cast of really funny actors including Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean) and Ryan Stiles (Whose Line is it Anyways, The Drew Carey Show) , Lloyd Bridges (Airplane)

2. Naked Gun series : This series start Leslie Nielson as the bumbling police lieutenant Frank Drebin. Nielson has been associated with some of the funniest parody comedy movies ever, such as the classic Airplane, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, and Spy Hard. After the classic Pink Panther series, this is a truly funny parody of the detective genre movies.

3. Scary Movie Series: This series is one series that got wonderful reviews when it started. Then the sequel was released and then the third; the negative review increasing with each sequel. The first two movies was directed by the Wayan Brothers.

The first broadly parodied Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, while the second parodied the common horror plot of a group of people trapped in a haunted house. The 3rd sequel is a broad spoof of Signs and The Ring. I have read that Scary Movie 4 is slated for a release in 2005. This time the movie is said to parody the superheroes genre.

4. Birdcage: The only non-parody entry in the top 5 list. The Birdcage is a genuinely funny movie staring the ever funny Robin William, a gay cabaret owner and Nathan Lane, his transvestite companion. Their life gets turned upside when their learn that Robin?s son is getting married and his fiancé?s parents, are coming for a visit.

The fiancé is played by Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal). Her father is the talented Gene Hackman who is a conservative Senator, for whom the last thing needed is a scandal in his political life. See the movie for the rest of the story! Believe me, you would have a good laugh!

5. Robin Hood: Men in Tights: I have watch all of Mel Brooks, hilarious spoofs and of all I consider this the best! Other usually consider ?Blazing Saddles? as his best. As indicative, the movie spoof the Robin Hood story. This is a movie that has to be seen!

As one can see I have 4 parodies in the list. Can?t help it. I love spoofs! All these 5 movies are guaranteed to make you laugh every few seconds!
