Catchy beats, groovy tunes, flashing lights...

Let's see. what does one think when one hears the word'remix'? Himesh Reshammiya? Ustaad and the Divas? Not what I think, not by a ten-foot electric guitar. I'm going to write about just plain remixes. ones on my list for the quality of the notes, the way they've improved on the original, the music. This has nothing to do with the song, only the remix itself. Oh, and don't be shocked at the weird titles I've given the mixes - you can just call them 'remix' if you like, but I don't like. Here goes.

Teri Yaadon Mein - Ethereal Mix(The Killer) - This has to be the most exhilarating remix ever. What with the ethereal creepy catchtune and the solid beat, the original is not a patch on it.

Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai - Eternal Mix(Woh Lamhe) - This mix has managed to capture all the romance and magic of the original, while making it all the more classy and groovy with its layered beats. The rhythm is just faultless, and the whole is sublime.

Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai - Euro Mix(Gangster) - No, it's not just plain remix here. Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai has three versions, and if you ask me the first two(the original and the remix) are no great shakes at all. The Euro Mix, now, has the hard voice quality needed for the song(I do think the singer sang it for two different versions) and the touch of the obsesive about it that thrills.

Shikdum - the bedroom mix(Dhoom) - This is one mix where they've changed the singers. And well they might need to, as this has all the fiery passion and enthusiasm that the original hadn't.

Soniye - Mix'n' Match Remix(Ek Ajnabee) - With the removal of nearly all those awful English lyrics, the addition of a catchtune and that of a slight Punjabi-ness, the jazzing up of the song has been quite successful.

So that's my view. I wonder if anyone else has one - or if they're all wondering why I didn't write about Himesh Reshammiya.
