Its Music to my Ears...

The year 2001 was basically a good year as far as music was concerned.Even though most of the movies sucked big time, the music albums were rather interesting and melodious.Without wasting any more time, here are, according to me, the albums that set the standard of Music this past year.

1) Rehna Hai Terre Dil Mein:- One of those rare remakes which was actually not bad.A remake of the tamil movie'Minnale', it went as far as to even copy over most of the songs. But, the outcome was pretty good.'Zara zara' and'dilko' had rather catchy tunes whereas'Sach Keh raha Hai' had all the emotional melody of'Tadap Tadap' from'Hum dil de Chuke Sanam'.Overall, it was a great album.and will definitely set the trend for the music of tomorrow.

2) Tum Bin:- One of those movies which surprisingly did well in the Box-Office.The movie was all-right.nothing special.the highlight of the movie was definitely the songs. The title track'Tum Bin' and'chhoti Chhoti Raatein' were exceptional.but the ghazals by Jagjit Singh stole the show.Excellent Lyrics and melodious music.a great album.

3) Dil Chahta Hai:- What can I say, the movie was an experiment that worked.right down to the music. The title track had an eerie and catching tune which will haunt people for quite some time. There was a peppy'koi Kahe' and pure melody was provided in the form of'tanhayee'.hats off to Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy.

4) Asoka:- The movie was basically bad.and the only way that I could sit through the movie was due to the songs. Some really good tracks in the form of Raat Ka Nasha, San sanna na, Aaiey{pardon the spelling}Aajayiye.but then again, I think the music was basically overlooked because most of the people were rather glued to the aesthetic videos.cant say that I blame them.

5) Kabhie Kushi Kabhie Gham:- This is the sort of Album that begins to grow on you.Once you hear it for about 50 times.then you begin to like it.Though only a few songs were highly publicized, I think some of the songs like'Suraj Hua madham', 'Yeh Ladka hai Allah' were neglected.I wonder why because these were as good if not better than the others. Anyway, I'm sure most of you will have your own opinions. These were according to me.the best. For those who think that I missed Lagaan.nope, the movie sucked and the album puts me to sleep.'Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya' had about 2-3 good songs but the rest sucked majorly.Same case in Gadar and Aks.Well, in case I missed any other, please comment about it.Overall, these are the Music albums which are a must for any music-lover.
