They say history repeats? All right where has Kishore Da been born again? The truth is(with due regards to all those who believe in that old age saying)? even if history repeats itself(if it ever does? the first guy who should return should be Hitler) Kishore Da will only come when he becomes history? He still lives on in our hearts? in our music systems? an not forgetting the cash registers of those new-age DJs? A mortal whose voice is seemingly immortal?

Born Kishore Kumar Ganguly? a man who was a success in everything he tried fell easy prey to the biggest vices of life and the world had to bear a really premature loss of a great and versatile man:-(? Anywayz here?s the list of songs that I prefer(to say the least this list is far too short for this great man)?

  1. Aane Waala Pal? Golmaal: A beauty of a song in the wrong film and on the wrong actor?(not to say Golmaal was bad but?)? One really wonders what it could have done had it been picturised on some star of those days.

  2. Apni To Jaise Taise? Laawaris: A great situational number where Amitabh asks Rekha ki Aapka Kyaa Hoga Janaabe Aali?(Unka To Pata Nahin, Lekin Main Kishore Da ki versatility pe fidaa ho gayaa? Ab Mera Kya Hoga?).

  3. Chalte Chalte? Chalte Chalte: This song was immortalized after the legend passed away? A great number from the start to the end with some brilliant lyrics?

  4. Dheere Se Jaana? Chupa Rustom: A neat take off from the title song of Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi? Nevertheless one cant help but laugh along with Kishore Da all through the antics of the?Khatmal?;-)

  5. Dil Aaj Shair Hai? Gambler: Dev Anand brought this song alive on screen with his trademark expressions? This song really captures the mood of a lonely lover in the midst of a party environment.

  6. Dil Aisa Kisi Ne? Amaanush: Mera Toota Dil Aisa Joda, Kishore Da Ne Mereko Manush Banaake Choda?(This song is a great number all the way) A challenge to all DJs? remix this song(Remember the condition: The original mood an the voice should be kept alive)

  7. Dil Ko Dekho? Saccha Jhuta: Some meaningful lyrics and Kishore Da?s voice lifted this song from a rather ordinary number to a great all-time classic.

  8. Gaata Rahe Mera Dil? Guide: Who can forget that great red-sweatered Dev Anand(Raju Guide) wooing Rosy in the midst of nature?s ultimate beauty? Kishore Da is simply wonderful in this number?

  9. Ik Ladki Bheegi? Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi: A song that catapulted KK to instant fame? The cute comic dance that KK conjures up in the almost dead beat is a treat for anyone to watch?(Fact: SRK admitted that this is one classic that he would like to relive on stage)

  10. Humein Tumse Pyaar Kitna? Kudrat: Very right Kishore Da?(but hey those were my lines weren?t they?. Humein tumse pyaar kitna? yeh hum nahin jaante)? A lyrical beauty on Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini on some stupid re-birth story

  11. Kiska Rasta Dekhe? Joshila: How often does one find oneself waiting(I hear something?.;-)? Well I guess I should stop waiting? n start believing that true love is only present if the person comes back to me?

  12. Mere Saamne Waali? Padosan: Kishore Da cracks up a great plan to help Bhola(Sunil Dutt) to woo his Padosan(Saira Banu) by playing back for his voice on-screen(of course playing back for himself off-screen)

  13. Mere Sapnon Ki? Araadhna: A typical Hindi flick scene(I mean a jeep chasing a train)? used not for a typical dishum-dishum ending but a great song which really marked the re-entry of Kishore Da after being invisible for a considerable amount of time?

  14. Meri Bheegi Bheegi? Anamika: You tend to a person after saving her? A person who has lost her memory? You give her an identity and(of course Hindi Film drama) fall in love with her? she reciprocates? Cut to? She regains her senses and ditches you? What would you do?(I bet you would kill at least one person for your fate?)? What Kishore Da would do? Give us another beauty from the bottom of his heart?(Ae Bewafa Tujhko Saari Duniyaa Ki Haaye Lage?)

  15. Musafir Hoon Yaaron? Parichay: An Indian rip-off on the greatly acclaimed The Sound of Music would have been incomplete if atleast one song from KK was not there? And the result? we have Musafir Hoon Yaaron?(Wonder how lyricists in those days could go on churning out songs with thoughts so close to one?s heart time and again? only to be immortalized by the great singers we had in those days?)

  16. Neele Neele Ambar? Painter Babu: Another of Kishore Kumar?s classic songs which would easily slot itself to any genre you assign it to? Such is the beauty of this number?(You?ve got to hear it to believe it!)

  17. Pag Ghungroo Baandh - Namak Halaal: NO INTRODUCTION REQUIRED(and yeah I mean it don?t I?)? This great song was the only thing required to gel totally with that famous?ultimatum? given to Ranjeet(?bad man? in those days) by none other than Amitabh Bachchan who asks the westernized crowd about where has Indian Culture gone wrong? Real fun song? Too long for a Hindi number but still keeps you on hold?

  18. Pal Bhar Ke Liye - Johny Mera Naam: Haay?Kya Kahein? The way the showman of all times tries to woo the Dream Girl and sung in the right tone by Kishore Da just gets you off your feet?(Probably listened to this song a thousand times? still can?t grow out of it?)

  19. Saagar Jaisi? Saagar: Rishi Kapoor so beautifully asks Dimple her screen name? This song was a real beauty with some great lines from Gulzar?(Somebody plz. Tell today?s singers and MD?s what it takes to make a classic: Keep it plain and simple!)

  20. Zindagi Ek Safar? Andaz: Who out there has forgotten the yoodleying of KK in this great number picturised on Rajesh Khanna? on a motorbike? telling the world to live the day? So CARPE DIEM my friends

Awaiting comments?

All my life is in brackets?
