Every colony, every corner, every ground, every open space. Cricket is everywhere. Our's is a cricket crazy nation and we all have strong beliefs about the game, positive or negative, Cricket is more often the point of discussion in trains, buses, homes and offices. I'm no exception to this rule. I love cricket. I love to play, watch and play it on my pc too!!! Here's a list of my top 5 cricketers as of now.
SUNIL GAVASKAR
I watched him play when I was a kid. I even read his books and I remember having a chapter about him in school. This one bloke was very gutsy. Imagine coming in the opening slot and taking on the West Indian fast bowlers of those times. Times when they were at their furious best, no bouncer rules, nothing at all. 13 centuries against the champion West Indies team. India's first batting hero.
ADAM GILCHRIST
This is one talented guy who is a natural cricketer. He's as good a keeper as he's a batsman. His aggressive style of playing is the best anyone has witnessed over some years. The best keeper batsman of all times is what Gilly is. The way he bats even in test matches is one main reason that today Aus is the best team in the world. Coming in at no. 6 he just takes the game away from the opposition. And he's a left-hander. Aren't they a treat to watch? He's just too good.
RAHUL DRAVID
THE WALL. India's saviour in times of crisis. ALWAYS. Try and remember how many times has Rahul held fort for the team when they are in trouble. He is perhaps the most under rated cricketer in the whole world. Always overshadowed by blistering performances from the other end he's been doing his work quietly and passionately. He's the perfect team man any team would dream of. He even kept wickets in one dayers just to give the team a proper balance. I think he's the best in the Indian team today. The perfect anchor.
MICHAEL CLARKE
The new Mark Waugh, is what people say when they see this guy bat and bowl. His abilities more or less match the legend somewhat. But he's got his own identity. There's a definite class in his batting. He's one guy who has the potential to become the future captain of Australia. His debut test century against India was a true showing of his cricketing character. A perfect future of Aussie cricket.
VIRENDER SEHWAG
When Veeru came on to the cricket scene he was called the Tendulkar clone. But people then figured out there there was more to him than just look like the master when batting. Today, Sehwag is the most feared opponent in world cricket. He is one batsman who manages to destroy quality attacks to tatters. But when it comes to weaker teams he fails to make runs:). He's naturally aggressive, the way Tendulkar was when he started. But I don't see Sehwag changing his style of batting the way Sachin has. The real Tiger of cricket.
Others who DESERVE a mention:
Sachin Tendulkar (All time great)
Brian Lara (Best Left Hander in the world)
Shane Warne (The spin wizard)
Wasim Akram (The Sultan of swing and reverse swing)
Viv Richards (The destroyer)
