While arguing over ''Who are the best Cricketers?'' should we forget the bowlers. I think not. There were and are many great bowlers, Larwood,Lawson,Truman,Lille,Bedi,Venkat, Sohaib,Vinoo Mankad, Richie Benaud, Warne, Muralitharan, Walsh, Hall (names not arranged chronologically) amongst many many others.
I believe the debate should be about '' great batsmen'',
''great bowlers'' & ''great all rounders''. Then and only then we may just be able to justify our selections. Furthermore, five is too few, ten is just about right.
But to fine tune our selections/debate it is better,in my
opinion, to look at the great cricketers and their records when they played eg, the first four decades, the next four and so on. Modern day cricket is vastly different from what it was say, fifty years ago. It may be difficult to judge those past masters, because we were not privileged to watch them and no film records etc etc.
Let us debate and make our selection limited to a specific period.
