I am writing a review literally after a month I guess. Somehow lost the interest of writing or probably was lazy enough to write one. This was a topic that I suggested long back, hence I thought it would better be me who writes the first review on this topic. A climax is so pivotal for a movie. When we have the cinema hall after watching the movie it’s the climax of a movie that mostly occupies our mind. A great climax will have us thinking of the movie all over again and even enticing us to watch the movie again. A great climax would ensure for 50% of the success of a movie. Here I give you a list of movies where the last 15 to 30 minutes of a movie was very powerful and really engrossing. There are so many movies to list. Though I give you an initial list of five movies which hits my mind when I write this. Again this is a list of movies that I watched and is strictly my personal opinion.

Moondram Pirai:

This one should be a unanimous choice. It was a master piece. Spell bounding performance from Kamal Hassan and was aptly given the National Award for his performance. The last twenty minutes of the movie just leaves you weeping and makes your heart to ooze out of sadness every time you watch it. When Kamal tries desperately to make sridevi realize who he is, you spontaneously feel sad for his character and just hope she somehow recognize who he is. This movie always leaves me in a sort of shock and disbelief, and I find it hard to digest the sad ending. Truly amazing.

Kadhalukku Mariyathai:

This one had Illayaraja at his best. The rerecording and back ground for the climax sequence was just mesmerizing. It was a well shot climax which had people guessing every minute of what will happen next though the end was predictable that the lead pair will join hands. This was the strength of the sequence. Shalini was just brilliant with the other costars amply supporting her. Till date Vijay’s best performance as he would have been made to underplay his character. Hats off to Fazil.

Kannathil Muthamittal:

A very touchy climax. Keerthanas performance in the finishing sequences of the movie brought out the true feelings of a kid fighting to identify her original mom and her deprived love. The desperation and disappointment in her voice while questioning and then persuading nanditha to come along with her was a class act. A great performance for her first movie. A refined from performance from all Nanditha dass, Madhavan, Simran, Prakash raj and Pasupathy would have added value. Not to forget A.R. Rehamns back ground score and crystal clear close up shots from Ravi. K. Chandran. A highly though provoking movie with a fitting climax all thanks to the legendary Maniratnam.

Kadhal Kondein:

This movie just took everyone by surprise. Dansuh was just extraordinary in the finishing sequences. He gave the performance of his life. The sequence where he dances to the theme music in the rain and hits the other hero with obsession was scintillating. Awesome performance. His acting brought him rave comparisons with Kamal hassan’s of ‘Guna’, such was the magnitude of his performance. The final scene where Sonia agarwal refuses to leave his hand in spite of he being so crude portrayed the power of friendship. It had the viewers talking about the climax for several days after watching the movie.

Anniyan:

This is one is the best example to show how effective a great climax would be for the betterment of a movie. The movie was just average all the way but took huge rise towards the end. Vikrams awesome versatility to portray the alter ego’s so spontaneously made the viewers to sit on the edge of the seat and clap hands for it. The changes he shows in split seconds was just unbelievable. Prakash Raj playing an apt foil for him. One of the best performances ever seen . Truly Amazing.

As I said earlier these are the movies which struck my mind while writing the review. A few other films I thought of were Kuruthipunal, Kadhal, Pithamgan, Nayagan etc. Will give a second part of this topic after sometime. Please give your suggestions too..
