90s era was something for Bollywood. I think this was the era where Pop and gloss culture really started pouring into masses. We had experienced a decade of movies in the 80s, being almost exactly based on same stories, recycled and put out by production houses across the nation with different casts. 90s was also the era when Hindi movies were beginning to reach wider audiences in UK,USA,Canada,Europe, Africa, besides Asia.

First on the list is ofcourse

  1. Hum(1991)- This movie brought together a heavy cast of megastars in bollywood and successful story recycled by Mukul S Anand from 2 decades earlier turned into a Mega Hit movie at blockbuster. Ofcourse Big B was the ring leader. After this movie Big B did his famous concert in London, which made headlines in UK. Ofcourse he also won the best actor award for this movie,

  2. Joh Jeeta Wohi Sikander(1992)- A movie for the youths, I can remember watching this movie with my sister and my cousin one night all alone in our 3 story house, and just basically mesmerized by the songs, we were just jumping up and down, this movie gave Aamir Khan A household name in India.

  3. Andaz Apna Apna(1994)- A movie that will always cheer u up and make u laugh everytime you watch it.

  4. Hum Apke Hai Kaun (1995)- Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan pair in this movie preety much blasted the audience with their antics and war of sexes and than in the end unite with each other, and also the movie itself based on family which obviously went with the audience. A hit movie, preety much broke the the box office record off all time, and still standing.

  5. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai(1998)- Need I say more about this movie, it basically charmed the audience and grabbed their feelings. Yash Johar delivered a superb movie for the masses. Pairing Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee.

Some Notable movies that should be mentioned:
