Some of the writers have jotted down their thoughts on this subject very effectively & I wish I can match their writing.
I will refrain from ranking them (the films) as the others. This is just the list of some of the movies which were made in 2003 which I liked. They might not have been big hits (Rules, Chupke Se, etc) but I liked them & thats what matters here . I'm sure there will be some raised.

1] Teen Deewarein - A masterpiece by Nagesh Kucknoor.Starring Nasseruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover,Juhi Chawla. Hope, friendship, vengance, everything so very beautifully potrayed. If you`ve Missed it..cant help but feel sorry for you.
2] Munnabhai MBBS - Sanjay Dutt`s laughriot. A film which you can watch along with your whole family. Mr rajkumar hingorani has directed this so very well. Also starring boman irani & sunil dutt sahab. Many say that this film is a once in a decade thing.
3] Chupke Se - Starring newbies.... Funny film.. very clean... bout a middle class girl who chases her dreams.
4] Darna Mana Hai - From the RGVerma stable. Firsttime director. Reatively unknown cast to stalwarts like nana. Made in hollywoodish style. Many people couldn't quite understand it I guess.. pity it wasn't a hit.
5] Gangaajal - Based on the bhagalpur blindings. Ajay devgan at his best. Jha does another one beautifully. arty film in a commercial style.
6] Haasil - Dir by tigmashu dhulia. Set in allahbad. It has that very small town thingie goin for it. I liked it. Irfan was fantastic.
7] Hungama - Dir by Priyadarshan. Not quite his hera pheri ..but still a laugh riot.
8] Jhankar Beats - Another good one. Starring Rahul bose along with juhi chawla. Urban movie with everything goin for it.
9] Kal Ho Naa Ho - Yuppie movie of the year. Another one form the johar group. Love laugh cry saga.
10] LOC - The most hated movie of the year (no wait that title is for boom I guess). I liked LOC. Well ok im a bit biased for war movies. There was no real need for that love element.. but kya kare..its a hindi movie.
11] Nayee Padosan - This is one of my favourite movies. Its really funny. Everyone in the cast has done a great job. lack of proper marketing caused this movie to bomb.. belive meguys its really damn funny.
12] Rules - Another movie.. Loved the stle of direction..more in a narrative fashion..hasnt been tried out in hindi movies before.. funny movie..
13] Samay - Loosely based on 7. I liked the way script was handled.. woman protagonist..wonderfull acting by sush & jackie.
14] Waisa Bhi Hota Hai-Part II - I liked this movie as well!!!..
