Malayalam films have always been a notch above the rest of the Indian film industry and so have been the actors. To pick out just five best among a pool of great performers is no doubt a difficult task. Mouthshut offers us an opportunity to give our opinions based on the knowledge we have. So, here I present my list of the best five Malayalam actors.
1. MAMMOOTTY: Undoubtedly he can stands a chance to be at the same place in the list of all time great Indian actors. A very versatile actor who can exhibit different expressions and moods at the same time in a natural manner. There were doubts regarding his ability to play light roles, but of late, he has proved that he can give the best comic performers, a run for their money. Some of his classy performances can be seen in Mathilukal, Oru Vadakkan Veera gatha, Ponthan Mada, Iyer the Great, Black, Raapakal, Thaniye Avarthanam, Kazcha, Rajamanickam, Valsalyam and many others.
2. SRINIVASAN: You can call him the multi-talented artist. Apart from screenplays and dialogues, as an actor he is a class apart. He can be a moron in one and a psychic guy in another. He can be a buffoon at one time and a serious professor the other time. Malayalam Cinema has not seen and will not see another Srinivasan ever.
3. THILAKAN: They don't make any like him anymore. You dont have to list his movies to recollect his performance. The name itself stands for Quality Performance.
4. MOHANLAL: The modest malayalee is a top notch performer. God has made his face worth 1000 expressions. Along with Mammootty and Kamal Hasan, he stands among the all-time great actors of the country. He emotes with such ease that you feel that acting is so simple.
5. NEDUMUDI VENU: Very few actors have the capability to match his histronics on screen. Whenever he comes on screen, you know that you are going to witness something special. He is one helluva performer from God's Own Country.
This concludes my list of best five actors. I have compiled it without any bias or prejudice.
