LEGENDS. Review on Five Best Actors of Hindi Movies

The 5 Best Actors of indian cinema.... unfortunately there isnt much competetion....mainly 'coz we hardly had any serious cinema .Film making is mostly business out here. And I would discuss only bollywood actors since 99% of indian films I have seen were hindi ....with few exceptions in bengali films years back & few very bad gujrati ones starring mostly kiran kumar on DD. And the topic is best actors & not stars which most of the other mouthshutters seems to be confused about. Stars & actors r not the same thing.

1) NASERUDDIN SHAH - the undisputed king. One doesnt even have to think a second to get another name when it comes to the best actor to have adorned the silver screen ever in Hindi films.No one comes even close to him. He is like a monster of acting. U name it & he has potrayed it. He has balanced perfectly too between art house & commercial cinema(OYE_OYE). After all he also needs money in life.Now if I have to write the outsanding roles he has done over the years ,trust me theres not enuff space. Besides so many of his films from 80's I dont even remember the film titles. And thats what makes him a legend. Can u name another actor whos role is still there in ur mind but U dont remember the name of the movie. Impossible!!! thats what Naser has done. to name a few of his best performances - Masoom, Mirch Masala,Bombay Boys (mastana bhai) Sath Sath(with farooqh shaikh & deepti naval...i mite have got the name wrong...farooq is the smart a$$ in this movie),then there is a movie in which he plays a blind character costarring Smita Patil or Shabana , a film about hockey co-starring smita patil, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Atan Hain, JAANE BHI DO YAROON (a milestone in indian cinema) There r so many . from the struggling photographer to the menancing Mustufa bhai. His most recent knock out performance is definite in Bombay Boys. Lotsa people I came across found the character a little over the board. But Naseer gave mustafa bhai such a funny terror no one else can. HE IS THE BEST ACTOR INDIA HAS SEEN.

Now comes the tough selection of selecting people so I wont give any no. to any actor....they r all great .

MANOJ BAJPAI- urf BHIKHU MATRE the most knock out & memorable since Gabbar Singh. Of the current crop of actors he is undoubtably the best.With his very 'normal' looks unlike most of the plastic good looking stars of bollywood this guy has done so much in such a short time . The role of BHIKHU MATRE was so cool that he can be excused if he never agains comes up with such an intense performance. He was equally cool in KAUN another excellent movie.SHOOL was a 5star movie. DIL PE MAT LE YAAR also was another excellent movie which unfortunately didnt fire the box office much. It was a cool movie & tabus best performance till date. He is still new & has most of his years ahead of him. And I feel he will be the best actor for another 10 years.

SANJEEV KUMAR- Chaudhary from Sholay. Just that role is enuff to put him on top. But he has done enormous good serious cinema too to get entry into this elite list of mine. Most notably being KOSHISH where he co-stars with jaya bachan as a deaf & dumb couple. Then theres PATI PATNI AUR WOH. He looked the part whatever character he essayed on screen.

OM PURI- the face of indian actors to the world. The only indian actor to have made it internationally. He is a legend. EAST IS EAST, MACHIS, ARDHA SATYA, DHARAVI,BIJLI in lead roles & thousand other roles one cant even remember. Then theres TAMAS & BHARAT EK KHOJ on the small screen.

OM PURI doesnt know how to act ''not perfectly''. He should be any directors dream actor like naseer.

I'm yet to see so many of his films like MY SON THE FANATIC , & many such Indie films.

AAMIR KHAN- the only commercial film actorto make it. He is the intellectual man's sole representive in the crazy world of bollywood. He is the only guy who has takenn films seriously & is there making good films & good films only. He has got the best script sense right now in the industry. My fav amir khan character has to be SANJU from JO JEETA WOHI SIKANDER. I have seen it more than 30-40 times in high school. And it remains one of my best hindi films ever. Then theres SARFAROSH, DIL(1st half), DIL HAI KI MAANTA NAHIN, ANDAAZ APNA APNA,QSQT,RANGEELA more recently LAGAAN & the coming soon DIL CHAHTA HAI. He is the only decent actor among the stars of bollywood right now.I havnt seen RAAKH yet.

AMOL PALEKAR- yeah I know, the word that came to ur mind is GOLMAAL...right? . Another masterpiece of indian cinema. Amol Palekar was diff from anyone else. He was ur the guy u meet in offices kinda dude. And he did just that kinda movies. I dont remember most of his movie names so u gotta excuse me. Theres one in which he is a lead actor in a film crew which goes to pahalgam,kashmir for shooting & a murder happens. 90% of the film was shot in one of the best hotel in kashmir THE PAHALGAM HOTEL. I HAVE STAYED THERE FOR 11 DAYS....then theres a film with Parveen Babi,Farooqh Shaikh & Deepti Naval, one with Utpal Dutta & Swaroop Sampat. Amol palekar if you r reading this please made a movie like that again.

KAMAAL HASAN- Do I have to say anything about him that one doesnt know? PUSHPAK, APPU RAJJA , SADMA & EK DUJE KE LIYE r some of his outstanding works.I havnt seen any of his TAMIL filmto comment on them but if he was so good in hindi imagine what wonders he must have done in madras.

Unfortunately as I said before there rnt many who can give these legends a run for their money. Some of my favourites over the years are

AMRISH PURI not for his bizzaire villan roles but for roles in films like GARDISH, PARTY, & loadsa other serious films.

ANIL KAPOOR for Woh 7 Din,ESHWAR & many other films...hes a good survivor.

FAROOQ SHAIKH- This guys is one of my favourites....his CHASHME BADDOOR is one of my fav hindi films...i can watch it any number of times...so is SAATH SAATH... & so many others.....watch JI PRADHAN MANTRI JI its hilarious...Farooq rocks !!!!!

NANA PATEKAR in PRAHAAR & ANKUSH.

PARESH RAWAL - HERA PHERI, KAABZA, almost every other movie he was given a chance to do some serious characters.

No I wont have AMITABH BACHCHAN & DILIP KUMAR...they were stars & not actors.
